It's Time to Recreate Cell Machine

Post by d/dx »

Cell Machine is a cellular automaton game.

Here I've linked Mystic's Mod, because it doesn't change the game all that much and provides a level editor.

Can we port this to Golly?

Proof that it is omniperiodic, and everything can be constructed with 6 cells:

Code: Select all

V3;O;O;{(0(9S)a(1p(43)(2M(1}))N82)LEa)N42G(1n)I(1p)86(1q)D)N7(1{)E(4P(1u)a(2P)7(23)H(43)N(1p)8(42)E(65)8(1})I(1p)8(4R(22)(9v(1f)(9x)Q(1r)86C(2P)L)LF(ec(2d))NM)TI(21(1q)(0(19);;;0

The resulting CA would be a von Neumann anisotropic rule, with a bright cell scanning through the map (since Cell Machine world size is always finite).

Add the "freezer" cell from Cell Machine Indev, which stops any "active" cell within it's neighborhood from working, until the frozen cell leaves the neighborhood of the freezer.

(I remember that I saw a related dead thread, but forgot where's it)

Cell Machine Indev isn't really used in the Cell Machine community so I don't think it'd be useful.

Here's a puzzle:
Kill the enemy inside this vault.

Code: Select all

V3;6U;6U;{(0(mIg)!I)05(6T(6O)!IIIIq(6T(6P)!IIq(6T(6R)eq(6T(6R)88(6T(6R)8888(6T(6P)8)05(6T(6O)(0(mu$);;;0
You cannot remove any vault cells.
