Question about uploads.

I'm preparing a post for a large device.
I've got a jpeg screen shot to facilitate the description, and a zip file for the RLE.
It seems they both need to be uploaded, but the procedure is losing me.
I get the UI to the files, but then there are some extra buttons below (place inline, or some such).
Step by step would be most helpful for each application of the upload.
