Can someone implement the following CA rule in golly

It is the same rule as star wars but in a hexagonal neighborhood. Hexagonal neighborhoods than be implemented by using:

.xx
xox
xx.

The x's are the cells in the neighborhood while the . neighbors are ignored. This setup could be useful for other rules in a hexagonal neighborhood as well. I know how to create this rule in mcell but not golly so I need some help. If you want to see an interesting pattern in this rule make a 2x2 block of live cells

You can specify a hexagonal neighborhood by placing an H after the rulestring. For example, the hexagonal version of 345/2/4 is 345/2/4H. This uses a 90° rotated version of the neighborhood you posted, but this shouldn't be a problem.

How is the 2x2 block of live cells an interesting pattern? It dies out in 3 ticks:

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 2, rule = 345/2/4H
2A$2A!

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 2, rule = R1,C4,S3-5,B2,NH
2o$2o!

Code: Select all

x = 2, y = 2, rule = R2,C4,S3-5,B2,N@019980
2o$2o!
Maybe you are still looking at the normal square version of 345/2/4?

And also, welcome back after a decade! As MCell is pretty much outdated and unused in the community today, please take some time to learn about well-developed Golly features including isotropic non-totalistic and higher-range outer-totalistic rules :)
