The Pattern Modification Game

This game is based off of the near-anagram game. Each person should respond to the previous pattern with the name another pattern and a demonstration that the latter pattern or a predecessor can be derived form the former pattern or a predecessor by one of the following modifications:
- adding a single cell
- removing a single cell
- swapping a live cell and a dead cell that are orthogonally adjacent
Vacuum and short-lived sparks (e.g. banana spark) are not allowed, but longer-lived sparks (e.g. phi spark) are. All patterns most be notable enough to have a name. Also, please do not repeat patterns that were used recently.
