Odd pattern which isn't on the list

Hi!

I was goofing around with the program (most fascinating!) when i found an unusual still life which wasn't on any of the lists of 18-cell patterns. It looked sort of like angel wings. Is it very rare?

I'll try to text it out here. o means a living cell, * means a dead cell. Hopefully these characters are the same size.

**oo*
*o**o
o**o*
ooo**
*****
ooo**
o**o*
*o**o
**oo*

If you try to look at it horizontally,

*o*****o*
o*o***o*o
o**o*o**o
*o*o*o*o*
**oo*oo**

What is it?

Thanks in advance,

ACG

That's an R-mango on R-mango (iirc).

What's the "R" for, anyway?

Seeing how the "R-loaf" goes by 'wing', I'm tempted to call that induction coil a "long wing".

Try putting it in code blocks:

Code: Select all

**o**
***o*
*ooo*
*****
*ooo*
***o*
**o**
This is the glider synthesis of a bi-block.

Also try using dots rather than asterisks for empty space.

Code: Select all

..o..
...o.
.ooo.
.....
.ooo.
...o.
..o..
(personally I prefer dashes for dead cells, but dots seem to be the standard)
