I was interested in attempting to find a c/1 photon in B24/S013. Here's what I do know:
It is too wide to find using gfind.
The narrowest rear-end partial has the following form, which can be turned into a tagalong: Code: Select all
x = 20, y = 19, rule = B24/S013

There are 41 distinct front-end partials with width 36 and length 23. All are asymmetric. Code: Select all
x = 36, y = 22, rule = B24/S013

It may actually be easier to find an asymmetric ship.
It can contain no dots, since a dot would fill the spot behind it.
It would be interesting to find other speeds as well.
For reference, here is the known spaceship in B24/S13 (Jason Summers, 1999), plus a smaller one I found with LLS. The latter might actually be the smallest by bounding box.
Code: Select all
x = 91, y = 45, rule = B24/S13

A 144-cell c/1 in B24/S13:
Code: Select all

How can I make so many wonderful patterns and rules?
Because I'm interested in them, and willing to devote a lot of time to them.

Rlifesrc can’t deal with these.
I’ve just tested this morning.

No more result. It told me when the search started.
