email updates

I'm sorry if this has been requested before, or already supplied, but I can't find any evidence of either. Does this site have, or could it have, a facility whereby a registered user could subscribe to an email list to receive email updates on new posts to the site, either individually on in a regular digest? It would be handy not to have to visit the site just to see if anything has been posted.

Of course, this would probably have an impact on the performance of the site and may be impossible or take far too much work to implement. I'm just asking on the grounds that if you don't ask you don't get. I'm not asking for anyone to do a lot of work on this.

I believe this is what the "subscribe" option for the forums does. Go to whatever forum you want to subscribe to, scroll all the way to the bottom, and there should be a "Subscribe to this Forum" link near the left in the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. If you click that, I believe you get e-mail updates whenever anyone posts to that forum.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to have the forum send you a digest of all posts once a day or something though, so you might end up getting quite a few e-mails this way.

Oh yes! Got it. I missed it it because this link doesn't appear at the top level board index and I was looking for something that worked for the whole site. No big deal, I'll try that.
