B345/S4

This is a rule I call 'OscillatorLife' due to the many, many oscillators in it.

Most have volatility 1 or are phoenixes.

There are some that have a stator, but I only know two of these

I don't think that there is any still lifes.

I haven't found any spaceships yet.

Soups tend to take a long time to stabilise, leaving behind a few oscillators.

Thus thread is dedicated to this rule.

Still lifes are indeed impossible.

The known spaceships have speeds c/5 and c/7. I'm also currently searching c/6.

Code: Select all

x = 48, y = 18, rule = B345/S4

Thanks! Most oscillators are what I call 'confused line'. Sorry I can't post RLE, I don't know how to access RLE on LifeViewer. The S4 allows the 'cross' oscillator:

010 101
111 --> 010
010 101

There also is a wick, which can be stabilized by confused blinkers and turned into a oscillator. I don't know any fuses for it.

Press the "Sync" button in the top-right, select the region you want to copy and hit "copy" (second-right on left side).

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B345/S4

I tried that, but all I got was 'Copied to external clipboard'

I'm going to install Golly. Can you access RLE In Golly?

That's supposed to happen. Afterwards, the rle is inside your clipboard, so the next time you hit paste (Ctrl+V) the rle will be pasted.
It works the same way in Golly.

Thanks a lot! Can Golly copy-paste?

So how can you insert RLE into LifeViewer?

Here is a incomplete stamp collection of oscillators:

Are there any tagalongs? Puffers? Rakes? Guns?

Guns/rakes seem hard to construct, as the spaceships are massive!

Most oscillators seem to be p2, but here is a p4 one.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B345/S4

This spaceship throws off sparks behind it. Any tagalongs?

Code: Select all

There seems to be a lot of p4 oscillators as well.

Before I have access to the computer all I have to note is:

1. Stop multiple posting.
2. Discuss before making a thread.
3. Guns and rakes are obviously impossible. (That is, before AbhpzTa come.) There's not even a way, left alone an easily constructible one, to produce any of those spaceship, and no high-period technology as well.
4. Use code tags

Sorry, I am new to the forums. I have started using code and will try to stop multiple posting

Where do I discuss before making a thread?

Ah, alright. I'm just always rude to new users here so don't mind me.

Under the "Thread for your Unrecognised CA" thread.

LaundryPizza03 apgsearched the rule on 2020-05-19: Results. There are almost every even periods there, but not odd periods - can someone prove that they are impossible?

The highest period among these is this p3092:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 19, rule = B345/S4
7b3o2$5b2o3b2o2$3b11o2$b3o10b2o2$4o12b2o2$2b2o10b6o2$4b2o8b5o2$6b2o7b2o2$8b7o
2$10b3o!
#C [[ AUTOSTART ]]
Another unproven (as far as I know - LaundryPizza03 may have some progress though as he's investigating Life-Life CAs seriously) conjecture on this rule is it's impossible to have spaceships faster than c/4, or maybe c/5.
