Why most people don't respond on private messages?

I have seen that many users don't want to respond on my private messages,even if I expect that. Why this happens?
This is probably not going to be up to me. Maybe they are busy?Or have so much private messages?Or do not even know about them?I really would like to know.

Maybe some people think that it just isn't worth their time responding to some PMs...

I suppose this thread should be in the Sandbox.
It depends on the content of your PMs. If you're asking others to help you do research on your OCA rules (as many recent posts suggested), please think twice because they have their own business.
(Also we have a thing called time zone)

For me, because I have too many private messages. For example, once GUYTU6J sent me a request about editing one of my posts to add his do-not-warrant-a-single-post message, but I discovered that request after, uh, about two weeks.

Because you're expecting too much. PMs are not the best way to get responses (but posting on talk pages is even worse)
But yes, all three possibilities are valid even if they're not the reason.

No. Talk page is supposedly the best way to "talk" on the wiki but since LW don't have a notification bar like WP it fails almost completely. (Some people, like AB, still check their talk pages everyday though)

There is a
Special:Watchlist for every user. You can add a page to it and manually check it daily. Note it doesn't have notifications, either.
The talk pages and Tiki bar are (almost) not for real-time discussions.
