It doesn't seem that I'll ever be contributing any more to this site – I'm applying to the University of Cambridge and the National University of Singapore later this year, and my likely topic of research when I grow up will be on neural networks or computer science in general. Yet I congratulate you for all that you have discovered during these four months: caterloopillar, grandfather problem solution, spaghetti monster, etc. It still astounds me how the pace of research in Conway's Life has exponentially accelerated in such a short time: as late as 2009 progress on projects was as slow as a snail, and now we have new discoveries by the week!
In spite of this, I have a hard time figuring out how to say goodbye to you all, the Lifenthusiasts. My Little Pony and my last semester of studies at NUS High (analytical chemistry, electronics, number theory are what I'm studying) currently take up most of my day. Soon I'll be out in this wide, wide world alone, with a lonely Britain and much to see. I gave the syringe its name, had a few lucky strikes, but those pale when compared to the things I've done elsewhere. I guess the best I can do is to quote this line from the novel whose title is the final three words of the quote:
And I wish you the very best for the years ahead.I am a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.
