Here is a replicator from HighLife:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = B36n_S23
2b3o$bo2bo$o3bo$o2bo$3o!

I can't load non-totalistic rules with Golly, and I see no scripts for non-totalistic rules on this forum. :(
Edit: I found one! Also, this replicator is not new.

I think the point of the post was that adding B6n is the only difference to Life needed to make this replicator, instead of adding B6.

This idea comes from the post here. This rule should be a lot closer to regular Life than HighLife is.

EDIT: The only place I found the isotropic rule generating script is here. Is it anywhere else?

Yes, it's also here.

Wait... I don't think "B36n" is a thing in the neighbors2 format? It just generated standard HighLife for me... I'm guessing it's supposed to be "B36v" instead.

Running isotropic-rule-gen with input B36v/S23 gives "Unable to process rule definition.".

I've been using the script from here: Non-totalistic Rules and Weighted Life (Scripts), 2nd post. I had thought that was the normal one... With that one, putting in "B36n/S23" just gives HighLife.

Reviving this thread. I was about to make a thread for this rule before I found out that this thread exists.

HighLife's bomber works, but it has different evolution from HighLife. Compare:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 6, rule = B36n/S23
7b3o$7bo2bo$7bo3bo$8bo2bo$9b3o$3o!

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 15, rule = B36/S23
7b3o$7bo2bo$7bo3bo$8bo2bo$9b3o$3o7$3b3o$3bobo$3b3o!
