Find the slowest spaceship

Post by Saka »

All you have to do in this thread is to find the slowest spaceship in any rule!
The slowest known glider on Eppstien's database is c/5648 in the the rule B3457/4568:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 14, rule = B3457/S4568
4bo2bo$4b4o$2b8o$2b2ob2ob2o$obobo2bobobo$2ob6ob2o$ob3o2b3obo$3ob4ob3o$
2ob6ob2o$b3o4b3o$b3o4b3o$3b2o2b2o$3bo4bo$5b2o!
Here's a few rules I want to see slow spaceships in (other than Life! It already has Gemini!)

-Diamoeba
-Coral
-Seeds
-Amoeba
-B01368/S01

There will be a weekly challenge to see who can find the slowest in a specified rule!

Actually Gemini spaceships won't win any slowness races -- they're pretty speedy. Check out the original half-baked knightship by comparison... If you want to slow down either the Gemini or the HBK even further, you can simply move the ends farther apart until it's slow enough for you.

Anyway, if you're limiting the search to Life-like rules that aren't Conway's Life... I'm not sure that enough research has been done on any rule besides B3/S23, to allow for the construction of "engineered" arbitrarily slow spaceships. HighLife might be an exception, though -- maybe someone could patch together some kind of engineless Caterpillar for B36/S23 (?).

Would an engineered solution count, or are you just looking for simple spaceships with no self-supporting or self-reconstructing trickery?

Im actually looking for spaceships with no construction stuff but it counts if it's population is under 700,000
