Rule creation help needed

How does one create a rule for golly?
I have looked at
http://golly.sourceforge.net/Help/ and it hasn't helped.

I have a similar problem. How do you load .rule files on Golly for Android?

And i am on a Ipad, is it possible to create and run .rule files?

Both the Android and iPad versions of Golly can create a .rule file by tapping the Paste button. Before doing that, you need to get the rule data (ie. text starting with the "@RULE Foo" line) into the pasteboard by copying the desired text from some other app (eg. your web browser).
If the Paste works then Golly switches to the new rule and you'll see a message on the 3rd line of the status bar saying that Foo.rule has been created. (If the 1st line of the pasteboard doesn't contain the correct @RULE info then you'll see a pattern instead.)
Once a .rule file has been created you can tap the Rule button and then delete/edit the file by tapping the appropriate link.
