3D Celullar Automata

Post by NoFreeWill »

Hi, I've written a 3D cellular automata; I'm seeing lot's of interesting "behaviours".

Here's one example:

Looks kinda like a 3D analog of a B2 rule, such as Seeds. I see it has a replicator, which is unable to grow very far due to bounding box limitations :p

I haven't seen a Class 4 (according to Wolfram's classification method) cellular automaton in the 3D Moore neighborhood yet, except for maybe B6/S57 (can simulate some GoL stuff in a 2d plane) but that rule is still Class 3 with a random 3D starting pattern.

I wonder if a neighborhood like Moore with its corners removed (thus having 18 neighbors) would be a better neighborhood to experiment in for outer-totalistic automata.
