Four-directional glider gun... and most probably already discovered...
Code: Select all
x = 11, y = 2, rule = B38/S23

A more canonical version of the pattern... but, as I said previously... this is probably a rediscovery.
Code: Select all
x = 11, y = 18, rule = B38/S23

That's an unusually nice p424 alien gun! Completely unsupported, and with several 11- and 12-cell seed patterns; it spends an unusually long time with a very low population count.
I can't find anywhere that this has been mentioned, but you might check with Jason Summers. It's not in his
list of rules with B3 that have known guns, so there's at least a fair chance that this is a new discovery.
Here's a minimal eater-bounded version, starting from the 11-cell seed:
Code: Select all
x = 44, y = 44, rule = B38/S23

Superb job,
dvgrn! I was trying to isolate the minimum cell-count version of the
active galactic nucleus unsuccessfully.

I found a succinct reference to the existence of known guns in
B38/S23 here.

Ah, but you can't infer anything from that about anyone's previous knowledge of The Great P424 Pulsating Rotating Galactic Nucleus Gun.
Gosper's old p30 gun works just fine in B38/S23, after all -- I bet that's what the wiki article is referring to.
I'm thinking there must be seed patterns with <=10 cells, since there are so many promising <=12-cell patterns that could be run through WLS/JLS. (With a great effort of will, I'm reluctantly leaving that investigation as an exercise for the reader.)

As far as I know, the gun referred to by the wiki page is the Gosper glider gun. The information on the wiki page is based on the guns in Jason Summers' alien guns collection (see
here). I believe this gun is new. I have found a few guns in rules not included in the alien guns collection, which I haven't posted anywhere, but I'll post them later today.
Also, I'm moving this topic to the "other cellular automata" forum.

Thanks, my fault.

Finally the four-directional gun is
b_3____8s__23_____.lif of file alienguns.zip as stated
in this thread.
