not the most compact, but the length of the transparent lane is the shortest, so it should be easier fit in loops easier.
The competition for this is things like HNE16T14 and the Scorbie Splitter. The transparent lane length is a little bit longer in those than in this new merge-reflector, but not all that much longer.

I guess the new mechanism might come in handy particularly in cases where there's no room on the "source" side of the incoming glider stream, but plenty of room on the other side of the transparent lane.

This converter is already used in oscillators but not in stable conduits due to its bad input clearance, I think.
The only one connectable conduit I found is HF157R making a new NE3T156

That fills a fairly major gap in Spartan circuitry, I think. Last time I looked for small Spartan color-changing Fx Herschel conduits, I had to wander all the way out the list to Fx245_2, or stick together something similarly big and awkward. Maybe I'm missing thinking of another recent discovery, though?
