The two questions are different, because spaceships are not necessarily ordered by discovery date. Spaceships are naturally ordered by lexicographic order, where cells are labelled by column-first order, and a spaceship is larger than another if their first different cell is larger. In this sense, the set of spaceships with 5 cells are not well-ordered so there is no first spaceship.
The wrong answer would be XLWSS, super-lightweight spaceship.
