For example, by disallowing them entirely?

Polls can be created only in FOUR FORUMS.
Website Discussion, LifeWiki Discussion, Bugs & Errors and Patterns.
Can someone fix this?

Two of my posts today have been plague by a mysterious bug where when I press submit to post, it alerts me that a new post has been made. However, that post ends up being my own post and I end up posting twice.

That's strange. So are you saying that you click "Submit" just once, but it posts the same post twice? It
might be helpful to know your browser and operating system, but I wouldn't be able to help you myself.
Also, you can delete your extra post if it's the last post in the thread ('x' button next to the edit button).

It's not every post, just a couple. Browser is chrome, OS is microsoft/PC.

When I was opening ConwayLife Forums, there was an almost blank page with "Please Wait For Request Verification" or something like that and Forums opened after around a minute.

It gave me this 503 error while I was trying to edit a post:

Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I believe we are being attacked by bots again. There are currently about 700-800 guests online, and the number keeps fluctuating if I refresh. No errors have occurred yet, however.
EDIT: Down to about 100 guests.

It's unlikely that bots could pass Cloudflare DDoS protection, maybe they're real guests.
EDIT: WHO IS ONLINE shows that the guests don't attempt to reply to posts. Spammers attempt to reply to posts with spams.

If these are real guests, then there are three unexplained problems - the unusual rise in quantity, the fluctuations in how many are online, and the unusual behaviour shown by WHO IS ONLINE - many guests are "Viewing User Control Panel".

Some guests do appear to be trying to reply to posts.

This might mean they are spam bots that managed to get past cloudflare but not our own bot filter question. The "user control panel" includes the registration form.

I am currently getting lots of general errors. Within the last 10 minutes, the error occurred 21 times.
EDIT: 37 more errors within 3 minutes.

Me too - have to refresh webpage before I could make even a single post. Why the Cloudflare protection had failed??

I’ve gotten an unbearable amount of errors in a single minute. I can’t even post anything without 25 or more general errors.

There are only 4 guests online now, but error appears anyway. Strange.
User psstoref_cwl_forums already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections [1203]

Yesterday evening the error was so persistent that it was impossible get to any thread and was extremely difficult to get to the forums without getting the error. Please fix this as soon as possible.

I can access the forums just fine, but most of the time I can’t go on wiki (can’t access database)

I second this claim. It seems to be a persistent error across all devices? I was hoping to see anyone else talk about this, I thought it was just a problem with my own connection. Not entirely sure what the main problem is, however if anyone knows, please explain what the issue is! Can we get this fixed for convenience at this current moment?
Also, the forums have been a bit slower to access than usual, although I'm a bit certain this might be my own issue.
