I thought you and BokaBB ALREADY skipped evolution, since you were designing creatures now.Schiaparelliorbust wrote: March 7th, 2021, 11:40 am I voted skipping evolution. I thought you were against that.
I guess so, but I don't think it's "official" yet.
If so, then I vote for evolution. I need to make this clear: I'm mostly useless for the human civilization part, I'm only really helpful to getting TO your civilization, but if we skip evolution, plate tectonics, and planetary formation, there's not much I can do to help you people out.Schiaparelliorbust wrote: March 7th, 2021, 11:57 am I guess so, but I don't think it's "official" yet.

I just sent a PM to them saying that the alien biosphere thread is just for that, so I don't think we would necessarily need to do that.BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 1:45 pm That will probably last thousands of posts.

1-2 meters is probably good. Maybe they could be ambush predators.BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 9:30 am We then would need a wider variety of underground animals. Also, they probably should be smaller than I initially wanted. 1-2 m sounds good. Their burrows must be very deep to allow them to live well and they should probably go to the surface sometimes.
Maybe abnormally large birds? I'm not sure why they don't exist today. Maybe they just don't have to be that big.BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 9:30 am You asked me the nearly same question about my flying mammals twice.
I have no idea. Give me some ideas how they could evolve. Also, when I said ,,a little bigger",I thought of any bigger size than that of bats.
Are you okay with dinosaurs then? I think animals like Paraceratherium are large enough. There also used to be elephants close to that size.
Temnospondyls. As for very cold area animals, maybe modern ones are okay.BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 9:30 am What cold-areas animals we should have?

Do you like the idea of giant (2-3 meters) predatory rodents? They would ambush any animal too close by. Rodents that big have existed before FYI.
Creatures similar to today's I guess. I don't know much about prehistoric ocean depth dwelling animals. One thing that would definitely exist is bioluminescence.BokaBB wrote: March 7th, 2021, 2:06 pm Also, what should we have in the deep ocean parts without light?

I know but there are so many these modern abbreviations and I was not sure would I find that. I guessed I could but for some reason I did not. I promise I will in the future. Okay. Interesting but would either require a natural lagoon or an island chain or quite advanced technology as they would need to either make their artificial rivers connected to the sea to get water that will not be drinkable (removing one of the possible reasons for doing that) or to somehow spark a reaction in the mountains that will create a riverEntity Valkyrie 2 wrote: March 9th, 2021, 6:53 amWell ― I think I meant that the civilization whose cities look Venice-like, and cities are connected by waterways rather than highways?BokaBB wrote: March 9th, 2021, 6:48 amWeird - sounding. Maybe their teeth could narrow and sharpen like fangs to hold their prey in place.BokaBB wrote: March 8th, 2021, 1:58 pm These rodents sound interesting. What kind of adaptations and look they should have?
You had said you wanted humans and they are the only animals on the planet which we know to be very intelligent. I think we should choose humans. But we could change them slightly. For example, in The Refugium, there is a lot of ethnic variation. They differ a lot in height and skin tone, for example. There is even a race with very little hair and another one that can't even breed with others. You might even call it a different species. Do you like this?BokaBB wrote: March 8th, 2021, 1:58 pm Will our civilisation-makers be humans or?

Yes,I like that. Do you have any ideas then? I think I'd like a race of pygmies at least. And maybe a race of people so white that they have lost (almost) all pigment.
I agree.BokaBB wrote: March 9th, 2021, 12:08 pm However, things like people who cannot breed with others are too extreme I think.

The people that lost most of their pigment should probably live in an Antarctica - like continent. I always wanted to make that!Schiaparelliorbust wrote: March 9th, 2021, 2:59 pmDo you have any ideas then? I think I'd like a race of pygmies at least. It should be at least somewhat close to other landmasses so that humans could go live there. There must also be a warm water current to keep it from getting too cold.BokaBB wrote: March 9th, 2021, 3:06 pm The people that lost most of their pigment should probably live in an Antarctica - like

I thought you had wanted this planet to be as Earth-like as possible, but I guess two moons is okay. They would certainly cause larger tides (if they are close enough). I don't know if they can make the host planet more geologically active though.BokaBB wrote: March 9th, 2021, 3:06 pm Should our planet have moons and what they would be like?If they are close enough they may have geologically active altrough I do not have many ideas how that could affect the planet. We could have different sized moons to create different sized tides.BokaBB wrote: March 10th, 2021, 8:24 am Probably.
I am not sure, but various sizes may improve things.
I don't think the planet is nearly big enough for tidal forces to cause geological activity on the moons. You hear of stuff like that happening on moons of giants like Jupiter.BokaBB wrote: March 10th, 2021, 8:24 am I do not speak about the geological activity on the planet but on the moon (s).
The moon(s) would probably be at similar distances to current Earth-Moon distance.BokaBB wrote: March 10th, 2021, 8:24 am Moon was in the earlier periods when it was closer but is not anymore now.

The former geological activity of the Moon was likely because of the fact that it was closer to us then.Schiaparelliorbust wrote: March 10th, 2021, 8:45 amWe could have different sized moons to create different sized tides.BokaBB wrote: March 10th, 2021, 8:24 am Probably.
