I like this Space Ship - it matches the new p4 diagonal oscillator I just found in another thread - I do not understand all the different rules but I found software that will display different-rule universes on the same grid :

I guess I always knew about how a line of ten cells makes a pentadecathlon. But I did not know that a three by eight group also does :
Code:
Select all
#CXRLE Pos=122,67
x = 8, y = 3, rule = B3/S23
8o$8o$8o!
I just observed this glider and two blocks make clean pulsar reaction :
Code:
Select all
#CXRLE Pos=130,60
x = 10, y = 15, rule = B3/S23
8bo$7bo$7b3o11$2o2b2o$2o2b2o!

That reaction is fairly well-known-- after all, if you remove two cells from it you get a phase of the Pd:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 3, rule = B3/S23

Have recently posted a lot of patterns in c/10 Construction.
Probably have enough there to be a complete tutorial ( newbies will <3 fireships, and loafers ).
But I really like GilGil's bitmap printers. Now dvgrn has also made some patterns to aid in building a printer, and some python scripts.
Just about everything one may need to have a whole lot of fun with these. I have made a few more but did not want to clutter that thread
unnecessarily. I feel the average person may be interested in CGoL and Golly for all the things that can now be done with images. The most
likely images are Vector Graphics, and the Internet is loaded with them. Specifically LoGos, and a lot of companies even seem to encourage
the use of their LoGos. I can envision students, graphic artists and even entrepreneurs becoming interested initially because of all the neat
things that Golly can now do with and make out of images. So I have a few more patterns, just to show off what can be done.
- pb.mc

here is a game for everyone :
use your magnifier and correctly identify every spaceship in the pattern above

- screen shot of above pattern
- After the Fox.png (56.52 KiB) Viewed 8926 times
download the screen shot image
I have identified the space ship that is partially out of the screen shot, at the left - it is an HWSS
there is one space ship with no name; since Crab and Lobster are both taken, I call it the Crayfish ( after Cray, the computer )
name every space ship in MS Paint, and post your entry
you will receive a prize
as a bonus :

- screen shot of Glider Pattern I think I uploaded
- Glider.png (122.91 KiB) Viewed 8926 times
use your magnifier and correctly identify each of the four pixels circled in red
you will get another prize
Enjoy !
and Thank You for playing !
