Edit: Should dvgrn be capitalized at the beginning of a sentence? (If the answer is yes, dvgrn (or any other moderator, but dvgrn both seems most likely to know and seems to have fixed the most posts by others in the past) has my permission to fix it.)

EDIT by dvgrn: Actually I was painfully slow at picking up the grammatical rules for these weird noncapitalized forum handle things. Back on the early forums, a lot of people had initial-capital-letter handles -- like Nathaniel, Elithrion, Sokwe, Extrementhusiast, Macbi, etc. And in spite of the fact that I had chosen an all-lowercase handle myself (because I had "dvgrn@juno.com" as my free email address back in the previous millennium) I tended to capitalize "calcyman" incorrectly, even when it wasn't at the beginning of a sentence.

However, Other more clueful people were routinely not capitalizing first-word handles, even back in 2009.

So I'm thinking that the capitalization, or lack thereof, is an important detail of a forum handle, and capitalizing an uncapitalized one makes it a little bit wrong -- just like capitalizing the first word in each line would be kinda wrong if you're quoting a poem by E. E. Cummings.
