Darn, I was also working on that but you're faster. I had no idea how to make the decomino here. Your solution seems a tad expensive, but I also don't have as good of an intuition.

I don't think all those gliders are able to come from infinity as it's currently posted. The issue is these two:

Thanks for noticing this. The synthesis itself isn't incorrect; it's just that the before and after images are too close together, if you want to be able to backtrack the gliders arbitrarily far. When one posts multiple images side-by-side, it is common that if one backtracks gliders to infinity, gliders from one sub-pattern may hit something in another sub-pattern. I only worry about it if the sub-patterns interact at positive time offsets, but not negative ones.

Well, they're eater precursors, anyway. And as
codeholic mentioned the last time this came up, it's a kind of eater that could be used in place of the eater2 in the syringe for example.
They're technically not eater2 precursors, though. To count as an eater2, an object really has to be able to eat gliders on four adjacent lanes:
Code: Select all
x = 52, y = 26, rule = LifeHistory
23.A26.A$22.A26.A$22.3A24.3A$19.A26.D$18.A26.D$18.3A24.3D$15.A26.D$

31.A2.A$32.2A!
Many uses of eater2s require at least the ability to absorb a glider-or-equivalent-spark on two adjacent lanes. There are other cases where having a backstop on two sides of the block is critical to recovery -- e.g., this small color-preserving glider reflector based on a syringe:
Code: Select all
x = 60, y = 32, rule = LifeHistory

That has the same structural complexity as a Gosper glider gun. Obviously, one would need to wait until many more occurrences of interacting queen-bees before being able to assess the rarity of the Gosper glider gun, but I'm expecting that its frequency is between 10^-15 and 10^-16.
Anyone want to try increasing the census size by a couple of orders of magnitude? We'll see a few p120 oscillators along the way...

Also, I found this reaction of two tubs and two LoMs that produces a Six Ls variant and two gliders:

Nice! This is, in fact, the canonical form of Six Ls, and not a variant. I don't recall seeing a synthesis of this one before.

Nice! this has a similar inside-out flavor as Fore and Back. The stator could be reduced by one cell on each side. Furthermore, each side can be reduced by another cell, making it glide-symmetric like Fore and Back to boot:
Code: Select all
x = 25, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

An integral-with-boat insertion reaction makes a new two eaters variant:

Assuming all the pieces could be made optimally, the insertion would take 12 gliders. Two gliders can be shaved off by noticing that 12 generations later, the honeyfarm-boat interaction just produces another honeyfarm predecessor. Also, one more can be removed by using 3 gliders to make a tub+blinker, and the sacrificial blinker neatly suppresses the spurious beehive. This makes the complete synthesis 11 gliders, which is one better than the previous best (i.e. adding the eater last). (In retrospect, Bob Shemyakin's new 4-glider synthesis of 11.11 had already reduced this to 10, but this new mechanism is still useful, as it may improve similar larger syntheses.)

Wow! I had seen that infinite growth, but I didn't know that my apgnano run discovered it! (I'm EricABQ, by the way.) I wonder why the twitterbot didn't credit me as the discoverer.
This seems to be two GPSE's whose histories overlap, but would still (unfortunately) be counted as a single object by the standard rules of apgsearch separation.

If you check your user page often, you would see the 'Limitless' badge and the yl384 in your list of discoveries:
