Edit 2: by comparing how many periods TTs has now and Life has had up to 100 over time, I calculated that our progress is somewhere between the day before it was proved herschel conduits could make all periods 61+, and the day it was proved. To get past here, we would need 13 more periods.

The reason I started looking into them is because I had a theory about how a universal constructor could work in this rule. I think the easiest way to do it would be to have a tape of Ts bouncing between two units, like in Gemini, and two construction arms in each unit, with the output slow gliders colliding north of the unit. It should be possible to rebuild the constructor from two directions, provided that it is made up of Spartan components.

I know this is a doublepost, but this is very important, and in fact a breakthrough.
I found a 3c/8 spaceship! And it's really small, 36 cells!

Is it possible to use your search program to search for a completion for this reaction?
Are there any Bellman ports to INT? I think that a Bellman-like search would be much better at finding a Snark-like catalysis for that reaction.

I wonder if this can be synthesized. We haven't even synthesized the 4c/8 ship yet, though.
