if you're into CA, you WILL come back to conwaylife.com eventually, whether you want to or not. i came back around a year after i had an "argument" because i found real life so boring without any fake Life to play.
i seem not to suffer with it, i can spend days or even weeks at a time without CA even crossing my mind. maybe there could be a few other factors contributing to that fact, but in general it's best not to assume something is true for every case.
here's the gosper glider gun

So funny:

EDIT by dvgrn: "Hm" apparently means "p60 blinker puffer, quite a bit smaller than ihatecordership's version". I wish I spoke that language, it seems impressively compact and expressive.

In "Theoretical computer science", Wikipedia wrote:The Zuse-Fredkin thesis, dating back to the 1960s, states that the entire universe is a huge cellular automaton which continuously updates its rules.

OP is using Conway's Game of Life - or more specifically, the B3/S23 ruleset
B3/S23 is an arbitary ruleset.
Currently writing a utility in Lua that may be helpful for faster manual pattern manipulation.

From Kazyan in Feb. 2016:
If you united a dragon/caterpillar, you could not tell that from looking at it, because you'd have to zoom out so far to get the 'caterpillar' part that the 'dragon' part would be invisible. The tagalongs you mention are diagonal instead of orthogonal, look nothing like each other, and are not 'massive' compared to anything remotely on the scale of a caterpillar. You're just not going to synthesize a caterpillar component in 386 gliders; there's more than 386 gliders in the caterpillar's helix-builders.

I could've chose a better username, but oh well.

Still learning the ropes of cellular automata, focused on one OCA at a time. My current interest is B35/S126 and range-two LTLs.
