I had this idea:
Use the 12-TET system.
0,0,0 - 0
z,0,0 - 1
0,y,0 - 2
z,y,0 - 3
0,0,x - 4
z,0,x - 5
z,y,0 - 6
z,y,x - 7
↑ where 0 is state 0 and x, y, z can be from 1 to 256.

newline - 8
increment state (1) - 9
increment state (2) - 10
increment state (3) - 11
repeat instruction i for n times - 12*(n-1)+i

a new notation for minrule/maxrule

Code: Select all

artifact
wait what was that? sorry ill get back to explaining it

basically how it works is you seperate the minrule transitions and the added maxrule transitions with a +, the maxrule transitions being on the right side and the minrule transitions being on the left side.

a + before a number, instead of a letter means that everything past that + until the next / is a maxrule transition that is not in the minrule.

for generation rules, lets say the minrule is b3/s23/c3 and the maxrule is b3/s23/c7. the notation for this would be b3/s23/c3+4, because 3+4=7.

as an example, the gliders minmaxrule is B3aijn+cekqry+2ikn4-r5-n678/S2ae+cikn3jnr+aceijqty+04-k5678

Well, someone else should probably double-check to make sure,
but according to my testing, your pattern contains no self-forcing patch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

and "21x6 self-forcing agar" is different from "21x6 self-forcing patch". A self-forcing agar doesn't imply a self-forcing patch; you might need to arrange multiple copies of the base region to get (a finite pattern containing) an actual self-forcing patch, or it might not lead to a self-forcing patch at all.

oh.

also, this is a way to convert patterns to usernames and back. just encode b to 0, o to 1, and $ to 2. then, convert from base 3 to 36. you can also reverse this process for turning usernames into patterns.

the block username is 3m, the glider username is 8jv, and the lwss username is fb2goa5.

my username is this boring pattern

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 15, rule = B3/S23
3o5$o3$o2$o2$o2$o!
at least hotcrystal0's username has something other than 1 and 3 long lines

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 16, rule = B3/S23
o$o2$bo$o3$o3$2o2$3o3$2o!
confocaloid's username actually does something slightly interesting!

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 12, rule = B3/S23
o2$o2$o3$bo2$2o$b2o$b3o!
still waiting for jvkaln2a to eventually join.

If I had to convert usernames to cellular automata configurations, I would probably use SHA-256 or something like that.

Nice. I'm bored too and I'm making it into ruletable. It needs far more than 16 states though (About 36).

EDIT: Fix state number.

EDIT: Icons done!

EDIT: The rule is finished and it was done in 36 states!

Apparantly, that's not a half adder:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 20, rule = Linebender

Instead, this is:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 19, rule = Linebender

Discontinuing progression in the tangent, I am actually quite curious abot where and when phase 2 mannerisms are used? I mean, clearly he doesn't use them everywhere. I've seen his website! And his OCA critic! Both of which do not use as many phase 2 mannerisms as they do on the conwaylife.com forums! I will do more investigating, and leave you investigating for where hidden lore tinley could be! Out! CL-

I failed to create UnnameNet on Google Documents, because it needs desktop and doesn't support F12 Browser (installed on Play Store). But I successfully managed to open it on codeshare.io to everybody:

codeshare.io is not approved on my computer until september 9th, 2025 (approximate), but you are free to advertise unnamenet on awesomenet! i wont take any spammy requests. unless you have a good reason, the limit is 3 website claims a day.

its strange how after 2 days released to the public the only websites on awesomenet are mine, even though there are 924 available website slots.

There are 1014 (according to page ownership list) or 1019 (actual number) available spots.
Also, it's strange that after 1.5 days, there is only 1 page, that is mine, even though there are infinite number of slots.
And also, why didn't you create an age bypass account?

1. that was a math error
2. because no one has thought about adding a page to it yet, and i cant add a pageb ecause the site is not approved
3. yes, i did create one. my computer and phone are locked down by family link so i cant agebypass an account. my tablet is not locked down, however.
edit: using my tablet to make a page
