For the record, I searched for high-period agars some time ago, mostly in Life-like cellular automata, using a quick-and-dirty program which didn't support nontotalistic CA.
While it would be possible to make it support non-totalistic CA with some effort, I'm pretty sure that other people here can find lots of agars faster than I can.)

Nothing in the definition quoted above explains why on earth anyone would be interested in defining a concept in this way. (Is this definition proven to be equivalent to some other definition that's easier to appreciate intuitively? Is it useful to define things this way for some part of CGoL theory? Is it helpful to define things this way for some applications to constructing engineered patterns? Why it's defined in this particular way?)

Now, I happened to know enough to guess that all the listed statements (when interpreted in some plausible, although not always unique or immediately clear, way) either are true or appear to be for the oscillator Montana, a p5 oscillator that (according to LifeWiki) was found by Scot Ellison in June 2011, and has minimum population of 34 alive cells, "the union of all phases" bounding box 12-by-10, average heat 13.2, volatility 0.58, oscillator symmetry type "n", and claimed to be able to serve as a weak sparker.

But it would be very unreasonable to expect that a curious interested-but-not-invested reader would be able to guess that. Any relevant intuition needs to be mentioned, when defining a concept that's supposed to be useful. (Whether or not the concept of "being similar to the Montana oscillator in this particular way" is useful is left to be decided by future generations of mathematicians, I guess.)
