A simple rule with much potential:

Code: Select all

x = 0, y = 0, rule = B2-ac3/S24a
!
[[ RANDOMIZE ]]
There are two RROs in this rule. One is a “glass-tile” p28 and the other is a sparky p68.

It is possible to combine two of the p68s to make a gun.

It is also possible to prevent the gun from working by colliding a spaceship with it from behind, thus creating a functional NOT gate:

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 33, rule = B2-ac3/S24a

Well, figuring that out for strobing rules is HARD, so I added S8:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule= B1e2i3jy4aqtw5a6k/S012eik3r4aqrw8:T256,256
2o$2bo!
Here it is!

Code: Select all

2o$2bo!
If you want the rule to have spaceships, then you unfortunately have to add a lot more conditions to the original rule:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule= B1e2i3jy4aqtw5a6k7c/S012eik3r4aqrw5ai6a78:T256,256
2o$2bo!
The behavior is still similar though!

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 2, rule = B2-a3-ai4-anqw5-r6acn/S1e2-k3-a4-aiqw5-jy6-i7c8:T256,256
!

An interesting rule I am currently exploring:

Code: Select all

x = 0, y = 0, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
!
[[ RANDOMIZE ]]
In this rule, a barge can act as a stable reflector for a photon:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 4, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
2.A$.A.A5.ABC$A.A6.ABC$.A!
It can also be used as a splitter:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 4, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
2.A$.A.A$A.A6.ABC$.A7.ABC!
Several small guns exist:

Code: Select all

x = 44, y = 5, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
20.A20.A$A19.2A18.A.A$2A18.A.A18.A.A$A.A18.A.A16.A.A$.A20.A18.A!
Barge extensions can act as wires to turn photons:

Code: Select all

x = 25, y = 10, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
20.A$19.A.A$18.A.A2.A$17.A.A2.A.A$16.A.A4.A$15.A.A$14.A.A$13.A.A$CBA
9.A.A$CBA10.A!
And they can also be used to split signals:

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 12, rule = 2cn3cny4cikny5ejk6i/2a3enqr/4
20.A$19.A.A$18.A.A$17.A.A$16.A.A$15.A.A$14.A.A$13.A.A$CBA9.A.A$CBA10.

This is bob. He is made of bs and os, and has an apgcode of xq2_bob.

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 5, rule = B2ce3a4ar5/S23-ij4ir5-y
obo$obo2$3o$bo!
This rule has some interesting patterns, including two bobs having a conversation and leaving behind some thoughts:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 5, rule = B2ce3a4ar5/S23-ij4ir5-y
obobobobo$obo3bobo$4bo$3o3b3o$bo5bo!
There is also a baby bob:

Code: Select all

The rule is like walled cities when surrounded by a wall.
Can someone apgsearch it?
EDIT: fixed incorrect rule, S3j should not have been added.

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 7, rule = B2ce3a4arty56-c/S23-ij4ir5-y
2$bobo$2o3bo$bob4o!
It dies around generation 960, but then a new one appears at generation 4970. That one dies at gen 9580, but by then has already duplicated itself twice.
However, removing B6e and adding B4c fixes this:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 7, rule = B2ce3a4acrty56-ce/S23-ij4ir5-y
2$bobo$2o3bo$bob4o!
Finally, can someone apgsearch it?

not sure what to call it, but this rule has cool looking ships, some of which can produce MORE cool looking ships
it also has these doohickeys, some of which produce continuous laserbeams or even waves that assume the shape of a rectangle... these doohickeys also reflect or absorb lasers while staying stable oscillators
its kinda similar to the StarWars rule

Even after all these years, I still don't know what is categorized as an "Interesting" rule by the general community. I also recently tried rulegolfing a rule with engineering potential, with moderate to little success:

Generations is somewhat underinvestigated, yes. But all CA is welcome here :mrgreen:

I engineered this rule so that this agar and its extensions are indestructable:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 17, rule = B2cek4ent5an6ci7e8/S12e3ejkr4-acnqy5-aei678
6o3b7o$obo2bo3bobobobo$2obobo3b2obob2o$obob2o3bobobobo$o2bobo3bo2bo2b

bo3b2obob2o$obob2o3bobobobo$o2bobo3bo2bo2bo$6o3b7o!
I call these 'null zones'.
The rule also has a c/4d, and has a common failed quadratic replicator:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 3, rule = B2cek4ent5an6ci7e8/S12e3ejkr4-acnqy5-aei678
b2o4bo$o7bo$7bo!
A wave:

Code: Select all

x = 22, y = 22, rule = B2cek4ent5an6ci7e8/S12e3ejkr4-acnqy5-aei678:T22,22
$18bobo$19bo4$13bo$14bo$13bo4$7bobo$8bo4$2bo$3bo$2bo!
Switch-engine-like stabilization of the replicator into a puffer (not corderizable, sadly)

Code: Select all

x = 28, y = 23, rule = B2cek4ent5an6ci7e8/S12e3ejkr4-acnqy5-aei678
