Just wondering, what's the point of putting an eater if it's going to get destroyed anyway? A block would do the same thing.
And Bellman can't perform magic. You can't just 'bellman something' and - poof! - get a stable whatever-it-is-you-want out of it; the reaction has to actually show some promise of being able to restore itself. Besides, all your reaction does is create a B heptomino + some junk (see gens 157 and 165), which literally thousands of still-lives can do.

Code: Select all

#C three of the infinite amount of 'reflection' reactions that create a B-heptomino
x = 121, y = 13, rule = B3/S23
118bo$86bo31bobo$8bo77bobo29b2o$8bobo75b2o$8b2o3$bo$obo74b2o$obo74bobo
$bo76bo32b2o$110bobo$110b2o!
About that H-to-H: It's great that you're learning how to connect conduits to each other to form tracks (the H->Pi->C->H is cool in that regard), but it's not 'new' since it's made of three separate conduits: Extrementhusiast/Sokwe's recent H->H, Guam's 'semi-snark', and the modified syringe. For an H->H to be 'new' it has to either be completely direct in its transition (i.e. not forming another shape, like a B or R, along the way) or it has to combine other conduits in a way that wouldn't be obvious (or in a way that the conduits interact with each other).

By the way, in most cases, you'll want to use the original version of the syringe:

Code: Select all

x = 34, y = 27, rule = LifeHistory
4.E$5.E$3.3E$18.A$16.3A$15.A$15.2A$2A$.A$.A.2A$2.A2.A23.D$3.2A24.D.D$
18.2A9.3D$18.2A11.D4$27.A3.2A$26.A.A3.A$25.A.A3.A$21.2A.A.A3.A$21.2A.
A2.4A.A$25.A.A3.A.A$21.2A.2A2.A2.A.A$22.A.A2.2A3.A$10.2A10.A.A$10.2A
11.A!
I don't know if my explanation of dependent conduits went over your head, but basically you only want to use the smaller syringe if the conduit you're connecting it to has a block right at the beginning.

What is the 'century jumper' supposed to do? There isn't a century anywhere in the entire thing (the input and output are both B-heptominoes), and it's not going to be useful for two reasons: First, there's no way to get the input B in there from another conduit (because the input would have to come from behind, but there's a block in the way), and second - this is really important - it's not permanent. A useful conduit has to be able to be reused; you could also pass it off as 'interesting but useless' if most or part of it survives, or if there's something small that has to be cleaned up before the next use.
The collection link doesn't work!
Yes it does... could you elaborate?

When I click the link I simply am taken to another page of the topic!
Also the link address is:

Edit: It simply don't work when posts are descending post time. I updated to ascending and it worked. Fix it and give the direct link to the file!

Uh... are you serious? Just click the first link in that post (the one labled 'Conduit_Collection-30May2015'). Not that hard.

The beehive pusher is neat, but the two extra beehives aren't; there are a few other reactions that push a beehive:

Code: Select all

x = 33, y = 40, rule = Life

I'd like to see a beehive puller, actually.

When I run LifeHistory on Golly in speed higher than 0.25s, the speed discretly accelerates to the point I have to manually press and press the - key to decelerate it. That is why I hate LifeHistory.

I think you should hate hyperspeed instead of lifehistory. Look at the toolbar on the left and check if hyperspeed (lightning icon) is on. If you don't see the toolbar, press '

Doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with the Snarks at all -- if you fix the damaged G-to-H, your pattern works fine:

So... a dependent H-to-H?

Even though there are no direct dependent H-to-H in the collection, thinking about it logically gets us to this composite conduit that fits the description:

Code: Select all

#C Shown as a B-to-H, the B is just to demonstrate.
x = 60, y = 31, rule = B3/S23

That's actually a B-to-B.
Accidentally found a Eater-1-siamese-Eater-3:

Code: Select all

#N Eater 1+3
x = 10, y = 9, rule = LifeHistory

Also, the eater1 siamese eater2 could be done very easily, in many ways:

Code: Select all

x = 52, y = 10, rule = B3/S23
6b2o24b2ob2o$2obo3bo7b2obo10b2o2bobo9b2obo$2ob4o8b2ob3o8b2obo3bo8b2ob

41b2o!
Unless someone actually asks for a weld with this specific siamisation, please don't post it as it's very easy to make.

For example, it could be made smaller:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 10, rule = B3/S23
b2o4b2o$b2o5bo$5b3o$ob4o$2o$3bo$4o$o$bo$2o!

I made a gun. I'll call it a Half Suzuki as a reference to Suzuki Motors, which S in the logo is angled, like the C formed by the gun and the S by two mirrored copies.

Was that last post supposed to be a PM to somebody?

Guns aren't really notable (and are definitely undeserving of names) since they're super easy to make, and because - as with a lot of things in GoL - there's literally an infinite amount of them. There are a lot of other things you could do with Herschels, though, like using some edge shooters to make a gun for a spaceship of some sort.

By the way, are you going to try to make a loafer gun as gmc_nxtman suggested? If not, why?

Maybe i can try to make a loafer gun. Any gun with period big enough and compact enough?

The minimum period of a loafer gun is 154, so here you go.

Code: Select all

x = 112, y = 109, rule = B3/S23
o$b2o$2o$102bo$101bo8bo$101b3o5bo$109b3o3$106bo$105bo$105b3o$85bobo$
85b2o$86bo2$4bobo$5b2o$5bo21$38bobo$39b2o$39bo$63bo$63bobo5bo$63b2o6bo
bo$71b2o3$67bo$67bobo$48bo18b2o$46b2o$47b2o2$43bo$44b2o$43b2o2$39b2o$
38bobo$40bo7$67bo$66b2o$66bobo28$3o$2bo$bo7$105b2o$104b2o$106bo!
Of course, you don't have to use exactly a period 154-gun; you can use something that is small, or convenient, like period 176 or 184.

What I would rather need is a gun where the glider appears by the side of the gun to avoid gliders hitting in guns.
Also which is the smallest gun of period > 154?

A pattern that makes into a glider and block:

Actually, I don't see a problem there, if you pick the right order and choose a side of the salvo carefully for each gun. Here's a non-optimized version. The guns should really be moved closer together -- which is a really good thing to practice, if you want to work on building these kinds of patterns!

Figure out how to change the phases of some of the guns as you change their positions, so that the final gliders are still in the same relative locations. I'd recommend using LifeHistory to overwrite one gun phase easily with another, but that's just me.

-- Actually the way I'd do it would be to keep the same phase for the gun you're moving -- basically you select and copy it, then delete the gun pattern out and leave the glider. Then run the rest of the pattern until that glider is in the right place, and paste the gun back in, lining up the output glider so you're sure it will still work.

Code: Select all

#C unoptimized version of SW-traveling salvo shotgun
x = 290, y = 195, rule = B3/S23

A descendant of that pattern is called "BG", for "block and glider", in the elementary conduits collection -- though actually it's in the process of being renamed to "wing", just so that it has a less confusing single-letter abbreviation "W".

Eight synchronized gliders is just about as easy a loafer recipe as you're going to find. You can reduce the number of synchronized gliders to three at a time, but that will greatly increase the total number of gliders you'll need to build the "loafer seed", so it won't really help you:

Code: Select all

x = 107, y = 45, rule = B3/S23

There's also a loafer gun in Golly's collection under Patterns/Hashlife, if you want to check that out -- it very slowly builds a loafer seed out of nothing but blocks.
