The base reaction and the factory were already known:
G-to-X_(November_2023)#Beehive_factory.
I think the idea was to combine that reaction with the natural evolution of B-heptomino, in such a way that the first natural glider of the resulting Herschel is used up to move the block left by the B-heptomino. If that moved block can then be hit by a spaceship arriving from some direction, and if the resulting explosion can be catalysed into the B-heptomino in the correct location, that would make a spaceship-to-Herschel converter.

It appears in the
Speed tunnel. Sometimes this active object is referred to either as "e9jp" (a temporary name after an encoding of the pattern that ignores the orientation) or "Jubjub active region" (due to appearance in the
Jubjub reflector, which is in turn related to and discovered shortly after the Speed tunnel).
There are already several known conduits involving this intermediate active object. As an example, here is a known HF114H / F114:
Code:

I don't mean to be polemical, but I don't really agree with your notion of "same timing".
Just as you can adjust the position of the Long Boat, you can adjust the timing …
It would be preferable to consider the moment of collision as the reference for timing.
And so I consider my OTT to be faster than the LongBoat.
For me, what the LongBoat and my OTTs have in common is that they return the Glider with the same parity and color.

Although "the same parity and color" is in principle correct, saying that doesn't explain completely why one device can be substituted for another without affecting the timing of the glider.
There are several different properties, that all have something to do with relationship between the input glider and the output glider.
- For glider shifters and for 180-degree glider reflectors, the difference between the input lane and the output lane is a well-defined property (e.g. "3hd reflector", "same-lane reflector").
- Whether a glider reflector is colour-preserving or colour-changing, is completely determined by the configuration of the two (directed) glider lanes, the input lane and the output lane. In particular, all "same-lane" 180-degree glider reflectors in Life are necessarily colour-changing, regardless of their mechanism / clearance / timing.
- There are two possible values of the parity of a glider, which can be determined by the state of the middle cell of the 3-by-3 bounding box of the glider in an even-numbered generation. When a glider moves freely through empty space, its parity remains unchanged. The Snark glider reflector preserves parity; the Snark64 glider reflector changes parity.
- By moving a trombone slide (a 180-degree reflector) in the direction of movement of the input/output gliders, it is possible to adjust the timing of the output glider by multiples of 8 ticks. If two 180-degree reflectors with identical lane difference have the same timing (mod 8) then one can be replaced with another (assuming either of two fits in available space geometrically, of course).
An interesting caveat regarding "same-lane" 180-degree glider reflectors, is that in this case the timing can be adjusted by multiples of 4 ticks (not just 8), because the device can be mirrored.
Here is a comparison between several known "same-lane" 180-degree glider-reflecting mechanisms. This shows why it makes sense to say that all those mechanisms indeed have the exact same timing (as far as "timing of a 180-degree glider reflector" is well-defined and measurable at all):

The "moment of collision" could be made well-defined, but it might not be very useful to know, in practice.
Indeed, you could measure how many ticks pass, between the first generation when an input glider interacts and the first generation when an output glider is already formed and will never interact again.
However, even if the resulting value is low, that does not necessarily mean usefulness. The glider might have to go very deep inside a convoluted contraption without interacting, then it interacts and very quickly an output glider is formed, and then the output glider will have to go back from the middle of the contraption to the outside world without interacting. The metric would be misleading in such cases.
On the other hand, geometry / clearance(s) of a device are nontrivial to measure, and cannot be usefully written down as a single integer number. (Unlike e.g. timing modulo 8.)

Here's a collection of related Herschel to a well known, unnamed active region:

Would this go into a different thread?
this almost works

might be able to reflect the glider back to clean up the blinker and block
update: solved it with the p8 glider reflector
