I tried connecting it to itself. Sadly, it didn't work out. However, there is a similar-looking region that could indicate glide-reflectivity of a completed strictly volatile P4. I don't know though, and this is all just purely speculation.

"hello world" alerted me to an almost P3 that I have completed here. Fortunately, P3 is quite easy to search at, and I hilariously went overkill with my usual methods before realizing that I could look for a completion directly instead of slowly building up a solution combination, like with the P5 sparkers.

Code: Select all

It's known, but I'm not sure if it's been formally documented. I tried to synthesize it after the cis one was found (and synthesized); unfortunately, due to the way that the cis one usually forms (i.e. forming a full pulsar, whose bottom half is later attacked), a similar mechanism won't work for the trans version, because it would require the formation of two skewed half-pulsars, and the temporary pulsar quadrants would not be able to induct each other during the crucial transformation process. The fact that it has never occurred in a soup isn't encouraging either.

Wait, how fast is JLS? I recall JLS is not really designed for speed. The period limit of rlifesrc is 7, how comes JLS can find copperhead?

Currently trying a completion at width-10 even symmetric (JLS was able to find the copperhead, so it's not that far-fetched.)

Is it possible to have a P5 "ultrafountain", where the spark is even more isolated than in a hyperfountain? I have been able to rule out ultrafountains for dot sparks (By getting zero solutions while inside an unchecked and unset cell buffer) but not for domino sparks. I have been able to quickly rule out the possibility of ultrafountains at width-24 even-symmetric, which would usually be unsearchably wide for me, so this is more complex than it looks.

Not for a dot spark (if symmetric). Using JLS, I was able to keep searching sideways and downwards, keeping an unset (not unchecked) cell buffer, and I eventually reached a point where the solution combination required ended in red cells. For a domino spark...

...Well, that did not happen! I can't rule them out completely, but I know for sure that there's nothing at rotor width-24 symmetric, and currently trying to rule out width-26 symmetric, which will likely take a really long time. Chances are that width-28 symmetric won't be possible in a reasonable amount of time for me, but I'm still searching outwards sideways even while going row-by-row (since I'm only at the fifth row, compared to the rotor being 26 cells wide), so I'll see if I find anything.
EDIT: P7 partial, though I don't know why I think I can succeed where people far greater than me have failed.

Apart from Simkin glider gun + p30 technology, not that I know of. And I doubt it's possible as those two are the smallest guns known in Life.

Yes, but I would consider one direct block factory to be more preferable than two glider guns.
P120 gun + g to block factory may work.
Yeah, the glider to block on the LifeWiki may work, but there are a few more block factories with higher clearance.

Why not just use Simkin glider guns? No need to use the fancy queen bee reflector. :P

There are two glider lanes close together, and the Simkin glider gun isn't an edge shooter.

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 41, rule = B3/S23

I'm trying to create my own supports for this, but I have a problem...

Code: Select all

x = 111, y = 66, rule = B3/S23
