Very low clearance D(F/Lx)13P found while experimenting with the recent catalyses:

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 13, rule = B3/S23-a5History
2.2A$2.A.A2.2A$4.A3.A$4A.3A$A2.A.A3$11.2A$4.2D6.A$3.D.3C3.3A.2A$4.C2D
C4.3A.A$4.C.DC4.A$5.2C!
The reason it’s designated as F/Lx is because the teardrop is diagonally symmetric.

P8 sparker from D8_4 (and reduced by me):

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 8, rule = B3/S23-a5
3bo8bo$2bob3o2b3obo$3obobo2bobob3o$obobo6bobobo$3b2ob4ob2o$5bo4bo$5bo
b2obo$6b2obo!
Also, the P10 bun hassler can reflect gliders 180°, allowing for loops of periods 30+40n to be constructed:

Code: Select all

x = 13, y = 17, rule = B3/S23-a5

2o$o11bo!
New SKOP 70 using this:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 31, rule = B3/S23-a5
2b2o9b2o$bo13bo$4bo7bo$2b2o9b2o2$6b2ob2o$3bobobobobobo$3bobobobobobo$

o$2o9b2o$2o9b2o$o11bo!
Edit: corrected conduit nomenclature (it’s 13P not 14P)

This stupid common spark is the most useless thing imaginable. Here's the only catalyst with ANY output I could find:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 10, rule = B3/S23-a5
2o3b2o$obobobo$2bobo$b2ob2o3$2b3o$3bobo$5bo$3b2o!
A miserable attempt at a catalyst, perhaps salvagable:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 8, rule = B3/S23-a5

Edit: Fleet eater:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 6, rule = B3/S23-a5

Another interesting fleet reaction:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 4, rule = B3/S23-a5

That “stupid common spark” is the R. It would have been on the list of common evolutionary sequences if it didn’t last that short.

Yes, I am aware. I would have called it the R-spark but I thought given the tone of the rest of the message people would think the "R" was referring to a certain inappropriate word

The leftmost pattern is a common evolutionary sequence created when a loaf is catalyzed by a spark; this might have uses beyond attacking the reflector.
The pile of central patterns are interactions with the p248 spark; as above, this may (and I suspect, in fact, that it almost certainly does) have uses beyond attacking the reflector.
The leftmost patterns is the reflector reaction itself (at the first point before it can start interacting with catalysts) and a combination of the boat catalysis and the teardrop catalysis.
It would be difficult, but it might be worth looking for periodic interactions with the base reflector active region. Perhaps someone could stick sparks around it at each generation of its evolution.

We do not have to find a stable solution. What would be nearly as valuable is a periodic solution, as it would knock out many missing periods (if the reaction is edgy enough, all periods above the periodic solution except for ones that interfere with the oscillator!); in fact, if it fits neatly in the range of missing periods, it could knock out all the remaining periods above a certain point.

I have LLS and qfind.
I manage the Travelling Ts pattern collection. It can be found on the first post in the thread.

For some gun mechanisms that rely on sparks to release spaceships, a sparker that doesn’t match the exact period can be used for an LCM, but this usually only works if common factors are shared between the periods of the mechanism and releasing sparker. For example, here is a P1056 T gun combining a P96 Margolus as the base and a P132 releasing sparker:

Code: Select all

x = 137, y = 132, rule = B3/S23-a5

Like with the situation with the HWSS in Life, I don’t think there’s a need to make F for the Flying F official right now because it’s very rare compared to the other 3 main spaceships.
