It works much better for me (the previous time I had compiled it with MinGW-w64, it exited with a silent SEGFAULT on the first kissat call). I just had to change some 'make-mingw32' occurences to 'make' in recompile.sh since I personnally use the 'make' version from MSYS2.

Everything seemed to work well, but when I tried to upload some partials to Catagolue, it resulted in the following message :

Code: Select all

Attempting to contact payosha256.
Internet does not exist; henceforth trying catagolue.appspot.com instead of catagolue.hatsya.com...
No response!
Connection was unsuccessful.
although I do have internet connection, and my version of apgsearch works well :

Code: Select all

Greetings, this is apgluxe v5.42-ll2.5.8, configured for b3s23/C1.

Lifelib version: ll2.5.8
Compiler version: 13.2.0
Python version: '3.11.6 (main, Oct  3 2023, 09:12:56)  [GCC 13.2.0 64 bit (AMD64)]'

Using seed k_dDDTXjRnRfNd
Instruction set AVX2 detected
Running 1000000 soups per haul:
[...]
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1000000 soups completed.
0 tiles processed.
Attempting to contact Catagolue...
Payosha256 authentication succeeded.
***********************************************
Is it because I have a UCRT runtime ? I want to make sure before considering reinstalling my entire compiler distribution ...
I currently use the UCRT MinGW-w64 with win64 GCC 13.2 from winlibs.com.

That's my fault. I should have tested that feature. It fails because it never calls WSAStartup(), which it needs to do before it calls gethostbyname(). I have updated the attached patches in my earlier post. All changes are to mingw64-ikpx2.patch. These are the changes from the previous patch:
  • Near the beginning of src/core.hpp, added

    Code: Select all

    #ifdef _WIN32
    #include <winsock.h>
    #endif
  • At the beginning of run_ikpx() in src/core.hpp, added

    Code: Select all

    #ifdef _WIN32
    WSAData wsaData;
    WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(1, 1), &wsaData);
    #endif
  • Replaced "-lwsock32" with "-lws2_32" in the compiler options in recompile.sh.
Try the tutorial again with the new patches. If this fixes the problem, please let me know by liking this post.

A small issue with it, which I'm probably sure has happened...
MacOS 14 Sonoma with Intel chip, newest version of g++ and clang, trying to compile ikpx2 via recompile.sh. However, when compiling, a bug of hash uint_128 already defined occurred. After trying a few times by solving it via force undef, pragma, typedef, static_cast returning value and other methods, I failed, so I deleted the part of the template hash functor code. Would it affect the results of the script?

ikpx2 will not compile on apple silicon M1 or M4. I don't have the files on hand due to being away from computer for a long time, but I know Dronebetter had the same issue. It appears to be an issue with compiling the solvers.

Trying to run recompile.sh gives these errors.

Code: Select all

./recompile.sh: line 2: $'\r': command not found
./recompile.sh: line 4: $'\r': command not found
grep: warning: stray \ before -
./recompile.sh: line 6: $'\r': command not found
./recompile.sh: line 64: syntax error: unexpected end of file
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Your recompile.sh script has 64 lines? The script in the master branch has 47 lines. Have you done a recent pull, or did you modify any files?
And what system are you trying to build ikpx2 on?

This is the recompile.sh I got:
https://gitlab.com/apgoucher/ikpx2/-/bl ... type=heads
I'm using cygwin on Windows 11.

You're right about the recompile.sh size. I still seem to have a version from an older branch i'm using...

I verified just now that the master branch of ikpx2 on gitlab compiles on a Cygwin installation on one of my older Win10 workstations.
I do get the

Code: Select all

 grep: warning: stray \ before -
message, so that is probably related to using Cygwin.

If you have already updated your Cygwin installation, it most likely comes down to what shell you are using. Can you do

Code: Select all

 echo $SHELL
?
Bash is the shell of choice for most of the linux development environments, so that should be the default.

For future projects: Windows System for Linux is likely to be the better linux-like environment to do development.

It's bash.

$ echo $SHELL
/bin/bash

Then i don't know what the problem may be. It looks to be some kind of failed regex parse at the very beginning of the script. You can try to remove the first " rulearch= " line (5) and the following " if " and "fi " lines (7 and 10) and run the script again.
The problem could also be a difference in our windows environment or a different selection of development packages. Cygwin doesn't make it easy to select packages that are compatible towards each other, hence my recommendation to explore WSL.

It might be Cygwin not liking the line break format. You could try opening recompile.sh in a text editor and replacing the control sequences "\r\n" with "\n" only, because the "\r" seem to bother it.
If it doesn't work, you can also try this tutorial https://conwaylife.com/wiki/User:Sokwe/ ... _MinGW-w64 by Sokwe on installing ikpx2 on Windows (but with mingw-w64).

I have made a tutorial page for ikpx2 on the LifeWiki: Tutorials/ikpx2.

Feel free to edit it if there are any inconsistencies or mistakes!

In ikpx2, is there any way to upload the results of a .bin file to Catagolue in ikpx2_stdin? I had ikpx2 running but I forgot to have it upload to Catagolue while running so I would like to know if there is any way to get it to upload after the fact.

It seems like ikpx2 is stuck on Attempting to contact payosha256. It's worked before, and now it's just stuck. It also doesn't give an error, just stuck there. I don't know if this is a problem with payosha256, Catagolue, or something else. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
