while having played with GOL (on paper) more than a decade ago, I know next to nothing about it apart from the most superficial fascination; so here's my question:
I played around with a glider (?) looking like this:
0xx0
0000
x00x
(what's its name? I didn't find it in the wiki)
when I place them in a 90 degree angle, so that at one point they hit each other, in a torus universe, the result always seems to be a) full of pixels and b) periodic. is there a place to find more information about this? will it always be periodic, or did I just get lucky?

Re: Newbie fascination
That looks like Seeds, not the Game of Life. It's still a Life-like cellular automaton, though.

Re: Newbie fascination
Aahh, that's explains it
It DID look strange, but I was too tired to actually check if it adheres to the Conway rules…
I used an Android app called "The Game Of Life", and didn't realize that it has support for multiple rule sets, and I did not get the "B=2 S=" in its description. Thanks for clearing that up
