About 15 years ago I finished up a survey of all collisions of a single Glider with all stable objects of up to 17 bits in size, and oscillators up to 16. Here's a sample of the smallest objects producing all three size Spaceships--
And try this one for amusement, the longest lived--

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
Hey everyone, I stumbled across a 5-cell pattern in a 3x3 bounding box that lasts 1104 generations, so 1 generation longer than the r-pentomino.
I would be surprised if no one found it yet, since it is so small, but I'm still putting this here since I could not find it anywhere:
x0x
xx0
x00
Does anyone know if this pattern has been documented yet and if yes, why it is not in the wiki "list of long-lived methuselahs"?
Thanks!

I'd recommend evolving it one generation and then looking at itcomputer_kid wrote: January 22nd, 2020, 3:48 pm Hey everyone, I stumbled across a 5-cell pattern in a 3x3 bounding box that lasts 1104 generations, so 1 generation longer than the r-pentomino.

The pi+boat reaction on the left around gen 69 is a good way to synthesis adjacent bookends. It is even compatible with 3G boat-tie-house reactions, which has fifteen 3G pathways (duplicates not excluded) according to synthesise_patt_v1.2.py:GUYTU6J wrote: February 4th, 2020, 12:28 am 5G xs23_39e0o4czc970123 improved from 8G, thanks to a 3G pi+boat given by synthesise_patt_v1.2.py:Code: Select all

It's not known to me (not that that means all that much, glider synthesis not being my strong point).GUYTU6J wrote: February 8th, 2020, 11:05 pmWith some edgeshooting house and boat-tie-house reactions, a wickstretching mechanism is likely doable. However I've not found one.

Is everything above known?
I'd say that if Catagolue doesn't know that 7G recipe for the 28-bit still life, the mechanism can't be too generally known.
Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
The mechanism of attacking a boat (or otherwise anchored tub-like bonding site) with something with an attached line-or-two, like a ship, has been known for a long time. However, I don't recall it ever being used to add a house to make a line-of-five.GUYTU6J wrote: February 8th, 2020, 11:05 pmWith some edgeshooting house and boat-tie-house reactions, a wickstretching mechanism is likely doable. However, the reverse has been known for a long time. Dave Buckingham used it in his Hustler synthesis; it's one of the steps in the mechanism to move an inductor from one side of a billiard table to the opposite side (which is probably doable with 3 gliders today).

The bumper is known and the Rob's p16's interactions are known. This could be considered new, but anywhere it could be used, a p8 bumper could be used, and the oscillators used for p8 bumpers take up smaller space than Rob's p16.

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries
I updated the bumper and bouncer gallery.
EDIT: That was risky, since it was too late I found that it wasn't in my list of "galleries" in my user page. However, it seems like I've made almost all the edits in this page (other than one edit by Ian07).
EDIT: Both of the P16 bumper variants have a smaller bounding box than the p8 bumper with the blocker.

Either way, massive congrats to Rob Liston!Sokwe wrote: February 10th, 2020, 3:29 pm It has a few weak sparks, so it will probably give some smaller LCM oscillators, although I'm not sure if it will be useful beyond that.
