Synthesizing Patterns In Unusual Ways

Post by Hdjensofjfnen »

There doesn't seem to be a thread for this, so I'll make one.
The goal:
Think of a fairly simplistic synthesis, then create a different, more complex synthesis based on an unusual predecessor.
For instance, here is an unusual 6G of a bi-block:

Code: Select all

x = 44, y = 36, rule = B3/S23
39b2ob2o$39b2ob2o7$36b2o$36b2o3$33b2o$32bobo$34bo6$9bobo$9b2o$10bo25b
o$6b2o27bobo$5b2o28bo2bo$7bo28b2o2$30b2o$29bobo$10b2o19bo$9b2o$11bo2$
3o$2bo$bo!
from this predecessor:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 11, rule = B3/S23
4b2o$4b2o2$4b2o$2bob2o$bo$o$bo$b3o$bo$o!
Challenges to pursue include synthesizing the beehive from this predecessor:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3/S23
2bo$2obo$2bo!
Good luck thinking of and synthesizing more unusual predecessors!

Is this tub predecessor unusual?

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B3/S23
2o$2bo$obo!

I would say so!
On an unrelated note, beehive in seven gliders:

Code: Select all

Clean preblock! (The synthesis provided by LifeWiki is not clean)

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 21, rule = Life
6$16.A$14.2A$15.2A3$.A$2.A$3A4$8.2A$8.A.A$8.A!

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 21, rule = LifeColorful
11.E$10.3E$10.E.2E$13.E4$2.2B$.2B$2B$.2B15.2D$19.2D$18.2D$17.2D4$7.C$
7.2C.C$8.3C$9.C!
I have reduced the glider cost of quadratic growth to eight and probably to seven. Looking for conduits...

Find something that produces the spark in white, then collide it, and we get a pulsar!
