Atomic (B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c)

Post by testitemqlstudop »

One of the few interesting and simple (ish) rules and finally NOT b2c. Named for these spaceships (all different speed):

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 2, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
3o2b4o2b5o$obo2bo2bo2bo3bo!
There's "traffic", which means spaceships directly behind other ones can only move once the one in front moves:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 17, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
o2bo$4o2$o2bo$4o2$o2bo$4o2$o2bo$4o2$o2bo$4o2$o2bo$4o!
which leads to this:

Code: Select all

x = 35, y = 37, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
o2bo$4o5$o2bo$4o5$o2bo$4o5$o2bo$4o5$o2bo$4o6$o2bo$4o2$4o29b2o$o2b2o28b
o$33b2o!

Almost all still lives can eat spaceships.

There's a small wickstretcher:

Code: Select all

x = 12, y = 30, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
5bo3bo$4bobobobo$4bobobobo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6bo2$6b
o2$6bo2$6bo2$3b2obo$3bo2b2o$7bo!
Backrake:

Code: Select all

x = 19, y = 17, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
3$10bobo2$10bobo2$10bobo2$10bobo$8bob3obo$8b3ob3o!
D8_1 symmetric p11:

Code: Select all

x = 23, y = 23, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
9b2ob2o$10bobo$10bobo2$7b2obobob2o$8bob3obo2$4bo13bo$4b2o11b2o$o21bo$3ob2o11b

Monomerized:p11:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 13, rule = B2ei3i/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
2b2ob2o$3bobo$3bobo$4bo$2obobob2o$bo2bo2bo6$4b2o$4bo!

Haha, I love it.

I couldn't resist trying to find a rule which is a bit more active. Here's a nice p8 in a rule which retains the ship and "traffic" but stays active for a bit longer and has lots of one time turners and reflectors:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 4, rule = B2ein3cij4ejkqrz/S1c2-n3jr4an5i6c
obo$bobo$2bobo$3bobo!
The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by speedydelete.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.

Wow, awesome! And it retains all 3 "base" spaceships!

This "traffic" is actually a very efficient method of freeze-drying (used in CGoL's caterloopillars), right?

The "traffic" here depends on the fact that the spaceship, on its own, has no cell that dies; this leads to the fact that birth can be stopped by another spaceship in front.

In CGoL, freeze-drying (in caterloopillars, as far as I know) is actually conversion; a *wss is hit against a constellation, and when the resulting constellation is hit again, a glider is produced and it reverts into the original constellation.

By freeze-drying you mean a mechanism like this?

Code: Select all

x = 99, y = 6, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
b2o3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bobo3bob

There's the very same traffic in this very old rule:
