I was looking up xlife for gnu/linux and found Golly.
And just for less than two days I have been running the "soup search".
Is there any way to save a file locally of the results of my searches using
the soup search script?
Do I have to get into the top 50 to see such a file?

soup search save on local computer?
Re: soup search save on local computer?
Nathaniel's soup search automatically saves long-lived patterns that you find to your Golly data directory (for Windows I believe this is located either at "C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Golly" or "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Golly" depending on what operating system you use). The files should be formatted as follows: "methuselah_XXXX.rle" where "XXXX" is the predicted lifespan of the pattern. The soup search script only saves patterns with "long" lifespans. What is considered "long" is dependent on the rule that you are searching in (I believe it is around 20000 generations in Life).
Also, please post any further questions about the soup search in the soup search discussion topic.

Thank you!
One of my searches overnight produced two just over 20,000 and I see the files in ~/.golly on my ubuntu 10.04 64 bit system.
