Has anything (either a standalone program or a Golly script) been made that creates a cumulative object count for any rule and outputs it to a file? (ie. similar to Andrzej Okrasinski's LifeSS Screensaver except with support for rules other than Life).
I had a look at the census script included within Golly but that only seems to count objects in the current game. Would it be possible to create a script that repeatedly generates games, runs them, then counts objects, exporting the results to a cumulative census, which keeps a running total of all objects? This would be like to the Online soup search except without constraints on the possible rules, and would allow many small-scale searches over several related rules.
Automated census script?
Re: Automated census script?
The problem there is that a new page must be created for every rule to be researched. This would be impractical for a selection of small-scale censuses over a large number of rules.
