Is this still life known? If yes, what is it called?

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 7
2bo2b$bobob$bobob$2ob2o$bobob$bobob$2bo2b!

Yes, pretty much all still lives are either known or uninteresting.

The only decision I made was made
of flowers, to jump universes to one of springtime in
a land of former winter, where no invisible walls stood,
or could stand for more than a few hours at most...

It's called hat siamese hat on Catagolue:

Certainly someone found it interesting enough to give it a name, but there are a lot of 14-cell still lifes (from http://www.conwaylife.com/wiki/Still_life , 619+279=898 such still lifes), and there are even more for still lifes with a greater number of cells.

Not a lot of small still lifes have full orthogonal (such as beehive) symmetry, though, so at least it's notable in that sense. However, it doesn't appear to be useful.

There is another form of hat siamese hat:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 7, rule = B3/S23
2bo$bobo$bobo$2ob2ob2o$4bobo$4bobo$5bo!
Hasn't anyone who tried naming still-lives ever stopped to consider this one?

EDIT: Actually, this one is a lot rarer and quite different so it could be called "shift hat siamese hat".

Is there a script that gives all possible ways patterns can be combined to make a still life, including dependent but not touching, touching, and sharing parts?
