There are oscillators of periods 2, 3, 4, 6, and 10 on the census page (http://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b3s13/C1) but I don't know if any more are known.

You should probably reserve the name "Creeper" for a thing that looks like this:

Well, it was first discovered in 1994 according to gliderdb, and the name presumably came at most a few years after that, so I think the name is fine.
Plus, "Creeper" Is An Actual Word In The English Language, Wow!
From Dictionary.Com:
Dictionary.Com wrote:creeper [ kree-per ]
noun
  1. a person or thing that creeps.
  2. Botany. a plant that grows upon or just beneath the surface of the ground, or upon any other surface, sending out rootlets from the stem, as ivy and couch grass.
  3. Often creepers. a one-piece garment for an infant, the lower portion resembling briefs and having snaps or buttons across the crotch for convenience in diapering.
  4. Chiefly Northeastern U.S. a spiked iron plate worn on the shoe to prevent slipping on ice, rock, etc.
  5. Also called brothel creeper. Informal. a shoe with a thick, soft sole:
    She wore a miniskirt and creepers.
  6. Also called cradle. Automotive. a flat framework on casters, on which a mechanic lies while working under an automobile or the like.
I think it fits #1 the most.

Two (nevermind, actually one) form of Block synthesis by Sidewinder collisions.

Code: Select all

# You can save the pattern into this box with Settings/Pattern/Save or Ctrl-S.
x = 30, y = 4, rule = B3/S13

Good to know. I'm new to CGOL stuff, and I just assumed they were different as it takes different times for the block to form. I've mainly just tinkered with different results from sidewinders colliding with something else.

I'm surprised you even replied to my post on an obscure forum thread that hasn't had activity in three years.

Not to sound nitpicky, but swinger is not a term used for any sort of phenomena in any rule (The correct term for the oscillator here is a diagonal flipper). Also this oscillator is known.

The behavior of this rule is well known. See OCA:LowLife

Don't think any p5 oscillators are known in this rule. Here's one from osrc:

The Creeper can turn into a fuse for this certain wick, and function as an eater for dominoes, where it transforms into a Fighter at the end (unless there's something to cleanly remove the last domino).

I regained interest in Life, so I also regained interest in this specific rule. Anyway, here's. a bit of wick technology I found.

Code: Select all

o2$23bo$24bo!
13bo$10bobo$9bo2$9bo$6bobo$5bo2$5bo$bo2bo$b2o$2o!
I also had a three-Sidewinder synthesis for the small p10 oscillator but for some reason I just didn't save it.

Eater for the Creeper composed of only still lifes. No need for that one period-4 oscillator.

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 35, rule = B3/S13
3bobo$3bobo$3bobo$4bo$4bo4$3bobo$3bobo$3bobo$4bo$4bo4$3bobo$3bobo$3bo

I suspect that with the right induction coil for one of the blocks, you could safely turn the consumption into a signal.
