Looking at Catagolue also reveals versions of this puffer that are just interacting with one another. I don't think any of the currently-searched symmetries would actually allow for a lone puffer to appear.
So while the puffer isn't widely known, it certainly has been found before. This is also a good reminder to keep working on a userspace guide-disclaimer thing that I have planned.

Re: Any already known archives of a very common B356/S23 puffer?
I could've chose a better username, but oh well.
I think I've learned the ropes of cellular automata. My current interest is range-two LTLs.

I don't think that it is so weird: it's an 18c/72 glide-symmetric puffer. It was first discovered by Harold McIntosh in March 1994.

A hex INT rule with c/2 engines and common oscs:
Seed for a common p2:
Common c/3d
Can anyone translate to hex INT notation?
