Re: Tables (B3/S23-q4i)

Post by Relintrian »

The introductory post for Tables has been updated. The biggest change is that the oscillator, spaceship/puffer/rake, glider synthesis, and wick/agar collections have all been changed to B3/S23-q4iHistory to show new objects (in yellow) in each collection. The collections will be updated weekly, when applicable.

Other changes:
  • A p21 that I had previously forgotten to add was added to the oscillator collection. Since it was already known, it is not in yellow.
  • The p23 partial has been completed, and as such removed from the list of partials.
  • One of the known p6s has been monomerized. Since the p6 was already known, it is not in yellow.
  • The sample synthesis for the small c/2o has been changed from 6 gliders to 5 gliders, to reflect the new smallest synthesis for it.
  • The combination of 3 crawlers releasing gliders has been added to the bottom of the original RLE of the crawler.
Credits:
  • P1GG found the new p11, p20, p21, and p23, as well as the reduction for the p148.
  • Pifricted found the 5g synthesis for the small c/2o.
  • Splitterrules found the combination of 3 crawlers that cleanly releases gliders.
  • LuveelVoom found the new c/5o, the new p5, one of the two new p3s, and two of the four new p6s.
  • PK22 found one of the four new p6s.
  • NNlk05 found the 3g LWSS synthesis.
  • I found the other new p3, the new p4, and one of the four new p6s.
If you feel like there are any improvements needed for the introductory post, please leave a suggestion. If you feel that you or something you found has been unduly left out of the credits here, just let me know.

Re: Tables (B3/S23-q4i)

Post by LuveelVoom »

I've recently invented this terminology for determining how likely an object is to be involved in a transparent reaction. For each common (>10 mil C1 occurrences) object in Tables, here is the relative inverse opaqueness to the block. A value of X means that the object is X times less likely than the block to occur in a transparent reaction.

Code: Select all

Block - 1.0
Blinker - 2.0
Beehive - 8.2
Pond - 21.7
Boat - 37.5
Ship - 89.2
Loaf - 217.1
The 4-block and traffic light aren't included because Catagolue has no object grouping.

Note that some objects may have common transparency reactions and thus be more likely to actually occur in a conduit.

This was calculated by taking the # of occurrences divided by the number of symmetries (and periods for the blinker) and dividing 874 million (block occurences) by that number.

Go ham. I haven't figured out a way to prevent the streams interacting [they arent very far diagonally], but if one is found, a gun is easy. Here's a base for you to test it with. Feed more input gliders and see what happens.

if

but to be serious if we got a p41 or a p2 thign that allows for the input and output streams to not annihalate, thatd be really cool.

put that or a stable one on the drawing boards. in the meantime, i advise people whore interested to try experimenting with the p82 gun partial ive provided [well, its technically a dependent reflector rn but eh... im pretty sure u can use all the parts provided to gunnify, this is just the simplest combination of them. its a toy model of a gun]

An infuriating failure and two interesting things:

Code: Select all

x = 92, y = 33, rule = B3/S23-q4iHistory
