Hello. I'm a long-time lurker, but would like to request that my account, Nosferattus, be granted Trusted status.
Done, and welcome to not-lurking!
The usual advice applies: rather than jumping straight into adding articles to the LifeWiki, start by posting the things you're going to want on the LifeWiki here, in a dedicated new OCA thread on the forums -- feel free to create one.
That will give the community some opportunity to offer some help and advice, and suggest what does and doesn't belong in LifeWiki articles.
I've skimmed the
Kumal et al. link you sent... honestly it looks to me like the kind of paper that academia churns out now and then, promising to apply new techniques to things like the Life-Like CA rulespace and produce amazing new results.
In point of fact, people have been trying various things along these lines for quite a long time, and success has been rather elusive.
From the abstract: "
quantification of previously qualitative phenomena in a human-aligned way". Quantification is easy. What's difficult is defining a quantification method that gets into general use because everyone can see that it produces interesting and useful results.
Otherwise... well, it's easy to claim you have a new paradigm that will "
accelerate ALife research beyond what is possible through human ingenuity alone." -- but until the new paradigm actually does that, it all looks like rather wild hand-waving. I'm always happy to be proved wrong about this kind of thing, though; would be happy to discuss the topic further on a dedicated thread.

When you post patterns on the forums, please include the source seeds rather than static images of later generations. It's much more fun to look at something like this in LifeViewer
Code:
Select all
x = 13, y = 11, rule = B0145/S01234

Code:
Select all
x = 21, y = 11, rule = B0145/S01234

than to try to reconstruct the original seeds from the T=3630 image.
