It is?? Oh. Ok then. (I still think it'd be interesting to know though)

No, that's a joke about "turtles all the way down", as in that things we thought people had just discovered might have been known already, hiding in some dusty notebooks for 20 years...

I didn't expect anyone to be interested in my old notebooks, but here we are.

Most of my work there was focused on constructing still lifes — I built around a hundred of them in total, developed several rules for assembling increasingly larger structures, and classified them based on their topology. Almost all of them are already present on this site, listed as discovered by an unknown author at an unknown time. I even started developing a unified coding system for still lifes, where base still lifes, various attachments (such as tails or buns), and connectors were encoded separately. I suppose there is no point in that now, nor is it certain that it's even feasible.

I was also interested in structures with an infinite tail (which are called "fuses" on this site); I found several interesting constructions there as well, all of which are present here (except for one).

That constitutes the main, most systematic part of my notes. Thank you for your interest!

Best regards,

Rudyj

Nice job!
Devote Parent for Pulsar phase 0 (49 cells):

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 15, rule = B3/S23

For other phases Devote Parents don't exist, it seems.
