Voting

Put your votes in a code block, formatted as #N stars. You may put up to 5 stars per entry. You may also vote for your own entry.
Example:

Code: Select all

#137 ***
#215 *****
Voting closes on 2026-11-07 23:59:59 UTC-12:00 (Which is 4am for me so you may still have a few hours.)
Have fun voting!

2 of the nominations from the nomination thread are not included in the voting thread:
"Checkerboard, Day and Night" - R2INT and "The INT rule with the second most known NRSS and the most NRSS slopes" - FWKnightship
I would suggest that we close the voting thread and give everyone at least 1 more week for nominating (I know that there has not been any recent nominations but it is good to give people time to look over and check the nominations and to talk about what to include/how to format them)

Thanks -- fixed.
I'll also allow 1 week for nominations. The deadline is moved to 2026-11-07 23:59:59 UTC-12:00.

Can you recast your votes (after the week is up?)

I don't think you should beat yourself up about messing up, I think this is just a sign that we should put more time and effort as a community into curating and creating the nomination text and list. Why don't you put what you currently have in as a draft in the nomination thread, and wait to start the voting until some people have looked it over and okayed it and then give people another week. In the future we should make sure there is a nomination list on the wiki, and that we are posting draft versions of the voting post to the nominations thread.

I don't mean to be the party pooper here, but I would like to ask @mods to lock/delete this thread. We all need to work on tidying up the nomination list so we can best show off the wonderful discoveries our community found in 2025. Currently there is a few big errors, and there is a lot of polish that is needed. Keeping this thread open only adds extra confusion

Amen to all of that! Organizing one of these POTY/DOTY votes is just incredibly difficult and time-consuming, and even after one has spent a lot of time it will usually still turn out that some problem or other is hiding in plain sight.

Maybe one of the first things we should try to do in future nomination threads is to find a team of let's say two or three volunteers, who agree in advance to do thorough reviews of the voting list as it works its way into final form. The convention would be that everyone on the team should sign off on having reviewed the list, before the last signer-off starts the voting thread.

... Too complicated? Probably -- but it's less complicated than trying to figure out what to do once voting has already started, and has to be re-started.

It seems like NimbleRogue's idea is a good one, of locking this thread and starting the voting again in a fresh thread. So I'll lock this thread at least temporarily, and will try to keep an eye on the nominations thread to see if there's anything else I can do to help.
