I think it should be possible to build a new Unit Life Cell without any oscillators or guns.

That is, each Unit Cell is a completely stable object, except for the possible presence of a glider which indicates that its state is currently alive.

That glider is replicated to be sent to the neighboring cells, and one glider is kept circulating within the current cell until needed.

When enough time has passed for all the neighboring gliders to be collected, then the waiting glider reacts with them to calculate the new state.

The p1-megacell is impressive, but it doesn't quite meet the requirement.

I want a Unit Cell which is totally stable. The p16777216 gun in the p1-megacell disqualifies it, even though it is just a small part of the whole object.

I think it should be possible to replace the gun with a 'simple' circuit.

This would just OR together copies of the nine gliders determining its new state to create a single glider traveling in a loop (or a very long
conduit).

When enough time has passed that glider then initiates the state change for the Unit Cell.

An infinite hershel hotel:
Maybe it’s possible with c/10 conduits and copperhead guns or rakes.
If that fails we could try universal construction. There are probably more ways to go about creating a device that expands a Hershel track and adds herschels.

There are search programs that can be combined to do this (If I remember correctly; I did not double check):
-Bellman, for finding catalysts.
-Catforce (and more recently, lightcone), for combining catalysts into an object.
-There are a wide variety of programs for welding stuff; LLS or RLS or JLS or WLS or VLS or your hand. (Welding isn't particularly hard in most cases.)

I think we need to make a search algorithm that puts components together, creating special things like reflectors and stuff and join it with apgluxe and add an extension for it to create welds to make it absolutely powerful

There are search programs that can be combined to do this (If I remember correctly; I did not double check):
-Bellman, for finding catalysts.
-Catforce (and more recently, lightcone), for combining catalysts into an object.
-There are a wide variety of programs for welding stuff; LLS or RLS or JLS or WLS or VLS or your hand. (Welding isn't particularly hard in most cases.)

What do you mean by components?
Components as in collisions? If so, there are programs to do that (of which I sadly do not remember the names)
If you mean catalysts, that is again Bellman.
