I had a dream a while ago about a rule where there was a spaceship that crashed into what seemed like a normal blinker.
There was a state 1, which was blue, a yellow state 2, and a purple state 3. The blinker was cyan and I also saw a green state and a red state.

I had a dream a few months ago where I was doing an English exam and was struggling with time, but then the final question involved switch engines and Python. (Usually, the first half of the paper would be on a related topic, but I can't remember what it was). I think the question was something along the lines of:

Create a Python program for Golly that can be used to find switch engine based puffers. (40 marks)

Bear in mind that this was a written exam - there was no chance to test the script for syntax and logic errors or access the Golly documentation.
It was worth half of the paper, so I was the only person who ended up passing.

EDIT 18/7/2025: I had a far weirder dream last night, where the output of apgsearch v5 was used to explain the activity and growth of a beaver colony, somehow??? There were two common types of infinite growth being listed, I think they were yl50 and yl75, and also some sort of unusual growth pattern, but it was less common. This was all part of some unusual maths exam, which might not have included any actual maths.

Does anyone know a rule which has common or semi-common yl50 and yl75s, but no other common linear growth patterns?

Today I had a dream where Unname made a new version of Conwaylife Skyscraper. Every post had an RLE at the end, and I even remember one post went like this:

It seemed like this was the type of thread that had CA bolted onto it. The rule they were using had similar colors to LifeSuper, but the alive states likely used different rules, and I somehow clearly remember that state 4 was LifeSuper state 1 and followed B3/S23.

in the beginning i was gung-ho; i had viro.pet AND viropet.com; i started to develop, i had grandiose plans - then covid hit...

then covid took j. h. conway himself - bummer...

i put one of dvgrn's LVMs in there and called it "Viro in his Time Machine"

then bookman came up with PatMan ( TYVM )

I remember rulegolfing in my dream. It was a nonexplosive B1e rule with even no spaceships!

It only have an one-cell-thick antiship, I remember, c/2o or something like that. Both of its phases are 1-cell-thick.

Had this weird idea for a "rulegolf visualizer" based off a dream I had last night. Basically: You'd have several "starting nodes", each being the start of a rulegolfing session. The rules which branch out of them are their modifications; hovering over a node would list a few details like "Date" (earliest known mention/description of rule), "Notes" and "Golfer" (earliest known discoverer). Object collections could potentially be attached to specific rules.

This actually reminds me of the dream I had last night where a game called Conway's Role-Playing Game of Life took the internet by storm. Basically, you'd start off as a glider which was able to change its direction by will. The game used only a greyscale colour palette. Whenever your glider came across an enemy (the only enemies I remember fighting against were the Glider and the literal Weekender), a fight would start. If you won, your glider would be upgraded (I remember mine upgrading to a ship that looked like B29).

i was on a spaceship and there were a bunch of planets and the habitability of each planet was determined by its rule: B3x/Sx planets were the most habitable (we landed on B3/S2) B2 "planets" were actually stars, and B1 was a superweapon that was unleashed by president olabba after president obama resigned and had a false vacuum decay like effect. (i saw that on a television in the dream world and president olabba was like "oops does anyone have faster than light travel") on the planet we landed on there was this complicated ritual to aquire a powerful magic book and you had to follow a very specific set of instructions to obtain it and if you messed up jackals attacked you and only one other person had the book and they helped me get it and then i used "chain lightning" from the book to summon mucus.
i think i might have a fever of some sort tbh this dream was so weird

i had a dream that you could have cellular automata as like little cubic shaped installations that you could keep as a pet or mix together and stuff

Last night I had a dream where I was looking for something to post in the “synthesizing” objects with still lives and oscillators thread. I found an active region that produced several big still lives (in the xs15-xs25 range) and then destroyed them. When I decided to post it in the thread, I noticed that the rule was set to B2n3/S23 and changed it to B3/S23, however in CGoL it created several rare oscillators and the destroyed them, including creating a figure right, destroying it, then creating another one. The region looked something like this:

The only difference is the spacing between the objects.

At the end of my dream, I saw that someone on Catagolue found a still life that looked exactly like the Wikipedia logo.

Considering the logo's in black and white, it may actually be possible to find that.

However, the resolution of the puzzle globe is too high for anything remotely similar to it to naturally (the logo is asymmetric) occur.

i had a dream about a explosive but slowly expanding 4-state rule that made patterns similar to the outer end islands
there were green cells (endstone), purple cells (chorus), and also blue cells?????
there was at least 1 very common orthogonal spaceship
and 2 rare diagonal ships of simplified speeds c/3d and c/2d
the c/2d had duoplet sparks made of blue cells on the back and period 4 or 6 i think
the c/3d had period 3 or 6
they both had a frontend made of mostly purple cells in a pre-block shape in a phase so they look kinda similar
they're also both D2x symmetric

the c/2d was also a bit bigger, like maybe 9x9 while the c/3d was smaller like 7x7 or 6x6
also the chorus spreads from island to island but not always, there are often "chorus gaps"
specifically in the soup i best remember it was like 3000x500 and about 1/4 chorus covered after many many many many generations

I had a dream of hand-searching spaceships.
I found a pretty cool oblique ship (speed was about(100,200)c/1000 or so)and when I zoomed in, I find that it is a single blinker.
I felt very strange and awoke.(Maybe I was actually doing MAP rule research in my dream.)

Is it possible that you didn’t remember said dream P11 and when you found that P11 domino sparker your brain just filled in the gap? I doubt the P11 in your dream was exactly the same as the domino sparker.

Had a dream that my (2,1)c/6 search in HighLife had found a result. (All my dreams recently have been very mundane. You could even say... they're lifelike.)

Is it possible that you didn’t remember said dream P11 and when you found that P11 domino sparker your brain just filled in the gap? I doubt the P11 in your dream was exactly the same as the domino sparker.

I really do remember it. I remember what it looked like, I remember me waking up and sitting down in my room, and thinking it wasn't as interesting as the things I was finding at the time. That might be why I forgot about it and only remembered the dream again when I independently rediscovered the oscillator.
