I've tried quite a lot of different glider collisions against this pattern, and so far I haven't found one that destroys it. Does anyone see an obvious way to break it?
I don't understand. I've tried a few gliders, just to check. All glider collisions destroyed the pattern.

Perhaps it's just a matter of terminology, and what you mean is a single-glider collision that not only “destroys” the pattern, but kills all the cells in it, leaving no survivors or descendants.
There are a lot of patterns that can be killed with just one glider. If the pattern exhibits periodicity in one direction, then it's called a fuse/wick. Examples of patterns erased by glider collisions can be found too in those large spaceships that “move” by creating a copy of themselves in another location, via construction arms, and then erase the previous instance.

Wait, what? I tried to get rid of an unknown unstable pattern, but the Eaters got altered. In cases like this up to now, the Eaters have been destroyed, but this is truly astonishing.
Code:

Edit:Doing this destroys an unknown pattern.

Sorry, I worded that very badly. What I meant to say was that I think I may have found a pattern that cannot be destroyed by **two gliders**, but I failed to include the word "two" in my post.
Also, by "destroyed" I didn't mean that an individual glider collision has to leave the pattern unchanged. I meant *glider destruction* in the sense used here:
https://conwaylife.com/wiki/Glider_destruction
In other words, I suspect that this may be a still life for which no two-glider destruction exists.
Sorry for the confusion.

Is this known? I accidentally found this almost-replicator while trying to make a traffic light-phi hassler.
Code: Select all
x = 6, y = 4, rule = B3/S23

There is a known 3-glider synthesis for it:
Code: Select all
#C [[ GRID MAXGRIDSIZE 14 THEME Catagolue ]]
#CSYNTH xs8_33zy5cc costs 3 gliders (pseudo).
#CLL state-numbering golly
x = 13, y = 11, rule = B3/S23

Not sure if this is a new discovery, but here's a useful reaction with LWSS that pulls a blinker and releases gliders.
Code:

A dirty blinker fuse, based on the honey farm reaction. By itself useless, but it allows splitting:

This way can eliminate the long boat, but it also destroys the glider.

If you don't want to destroy the glider, create a glider to destroy the long boat using the Glider Duplicator.

The pattern I created rotates the herschel by 90 degrees. Is this a pattern that has already been discovered? Also, how can I erase the remaining block when it passes?
Code:

x = 25, y = 31, rule = LifeHistory

You think Conway’s Game of Life is difficult? You just need to know how to perform simple arithmetic operations!

The core reaction appears to be the same as in
R64 - see the overlay below (red = your conduit, green = Blockic R64, white = both):

I don't see a way to remove the block without reflectors, sadly, but how did you discover this? Was it by manually placing catalysts, or something else?

That's HR44B when you move the extra fishhook to eat the FNB:

There are many variants of this conduit, and a version using a fishhook instead of an eater 2 is in the
elementary conduit collection , so it's already known.

It's known, but from what I seem to remember, it's quite recent, being discovered well after any of its components.

Hi! I am new here. I was running apgsearch and i think i found 2 strict still lifes:
Code: Select all
x = 6, y = 7, rule = B3/S23
3bo$b3o$o$bo$2bo$3bobo$4b2o!
I would call this first one a **long canoe with tail** (apgcode: xs11_4a3sz123).
And the second one:
Code: Select all
x = 6, y = 7, rule = B3/S23
3b2o$2bo2bo$3bobo$bob2o$obo$obo$bo!
I would call this second one a **beehive pseudo-loaf** (apgcode: xs14_g8id96z121).
Has anyone encountered these specific variants or used these names before? Thanks!

Since there was no P180 glider gun on life wiki, I tried making it using three different methods.
