It contains Eater 1 (Fishhook), a specialized HWSS eater, a pair of killer candlefrobras, a type of MWSS eater, and a specialized LWSS eater. None of these were discovered by me. I find it very interesting though.

This gun uses two copies of "p46 gliderless LWSS gun" found by Nathaniel Johnston to keep making LWSS-LWSS bounce.

EDIT by dvgrn: Moved to the unsure-discoveries thread. Standard practice on these forums is that most newly constructed patterns fit better in an existing thread. If everyone made a new thread for every new pattern... well, we'd have an impressive tangle of very short threads. We'd prefer to have things organized a little better if possible.

See also MathAndCode's response to another of your new threads. TL;DR: you're currently posting rediscoveries that are not going to surprise anyone. Having a blinker here makes a glider-emitting crystal. If you remove the blinker at any stage, all the blocks behind it get deleted, because of sparks from the HWSSes:

Edit: I found out too late that 20 glider syntheses can create a smaller slide gun than 19. First, I’ll use 19 glider syntheses to make the slide gun, and then I’ll try making it again with 20 glider syntheses.

Hi everyone! Here is an interesting pattern I found. I call this pattern Ring of Sauron. Ring of Sauron is a long-lived methuselah discovered in 1997. Its initial evolution was first analyzed on a ZX Spectrum system and later verified using Golly in 2026.

​The pattern has a lifespan of 6,155 generations, during which it emits 17 gliders. The final ash consists of 211 objects with a total population of 931 live cells.

This is equivalent to a pi-heptomino hitting a blinker. There are two blinkers in the pattern you posted, but it evolves identically with just one.

I discovered this pattern in February 2026 but didn't realize what I had in hand (I was just puzzled that on the 16x16 torus, this pattern gives humongous non-repeating generational counts, far higher than previous patterns evolved from soups):

It was subsequently identified to likely be a previously unknown Agar of periodicity 314 by PK22 (see this thread: https://conwaylife.com/forums/viewtopic ... 7&start=44 ) which replicates and simultaneously shifts itself by (7,7). Given that 16 and 7 are co-prime, this gives rise to exactly 16 cycles with a total runtime of 16x314=5,024 generations before the pattern ends up in its starting configuration again.

Can anyone confirm or deny that this is a new Agar? The LifeWiki article about Agars does not list it but I am unsure whether this article exhaustively lists all known Agars.

If there are no objections to it, I propose the name "Tännhauser Gate" for this Agar - or maybe PK22 has a better idea (I figure they should have a say in it as a co-discoverer).
