Silk Moth synthesis COMPLETED!!
62124 gliders painstakingly arranged over the course of one night to synthesise the first and only (15,11)c/107 spaceship. I would love to show you how exactly the synthesis looks like, but I'd rather keep the techniques I used to make this a secret until you download the file. Just as a proof that this indeed works, here's the resulting Silk Moth a few million generations after the cleanup of each stage has been performed:

Anyway enough with the suspense, here's THE 62124G SILK MOTH SYNTHESIS.

I don't think that's the correct file, since it doesn't work (not to mention the random rectangle in the northwest).
Unless, of course, this entire thing was just a big April fools joke.
Yeah I also see the random rectangle. I think they uploaded the wrong file.

How would we know what we don’t know that we don’t know?

I've been posting about this a little in the Discord but I've made some renewed progress on the Silk moth synthesis. What you see here is the result of ~10436 gliders:

This was the monstrosity used to create this:

According to my calculations, this is a pretty sizeable portion (29.4%) of the "first and only (15,11)c/107 spaceship" synthesised.

Code: Select all

#C [[ ZOOM 8 TRACK -3/87 -1/87 ]]
x = 4, y = 5, rule = B35ay/S2-i3-e4ey5j
